On yer bike!
Hmmm, you’ve reached an older feature - let’s get you up to date! Read our latest Shopping features here.
I can’t pretend to be a hardcore cyclist – no early rides in pouring weather, no biking on rollers three times a week through winter, no curtailing my health regime of booze and biscuits so I can improve my time trials (the thought of it!).
But I do love a bike ride in the sunshine, and tis true, I have a terrible weakness for cool bike gear. I know a lot of you guys are the same, so with all this gorgeous weather belting out at the mo I’ve gathered up a cycling smorgasbord for your delectation. Work up a sweat, get on your bike, and look flippin marvellous while you’re at it.
Yellow Capo short jersey top, Capa, £90, available at female bikewear specialists Cicla Cycle. I’ve just bought one of these, and I love the colour of it, looks very pro and is easy to see on the road.
Images clockwise from top left:
Pearl Izumi PRO Leader II Road Shoe, £229.99. Available at Evans Cycles. I’m a bit scared to wear cleats – my friend keeps falling off her bike in hers! – but when I take the plunge I’m going for these babies.
Elite Hygene Super Corsa Water Bottle, £7 each at Wiggle. Because they look pretty, tis all!
Women’s Lightweight Bomber Jacket, £150, Rapha. Rapha is such a supercool bike brand – expensive, I grant you, but their detailing is always fantastic.
Halfords bike repair and puncture kit, £6.99. Because if I had even the sniff of an idea how to repair a puncture, this would be ideal.
Brodie Skincare Recovery Phase Cycle Cream, £17.99. Cycle cream designed specifically for wind-swept bikers. If you’re out on the road for hours, this just might stop you looking like an octagenarian in the long run.
Colnago CX-1 Wiggle Honda Athena 11 2013 bike, £3,199.36, at Wiggle. A whopper amount of money to spend on a bike, I grant you, but if you want to annihilate your husband on the road, this full carbon performance with the exclusive colour scheme of the Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling team is how to do it.
Maloja fingerless gloves, £26, at Cicla Cycle. Good padding, cute design, and designed for female hands at a decent price.
Team Sky Women’s Shorts, Rapha, £130. With so many bike shorts a bit yawny and plain black, I like the Sky blue stripe detailing on these.
