Is this the best skiwear shop in Bucks & Oxon?
There’s snow in Europe, people! It feels like forever since we’ve been able to say that, doesn’t it? Anyway, the slopes are all fluffy and white and this ushers in my favourite purchase of the winter months – the bobble hat. I have quite the collection – sparkly ones, ones with ear danglers, chunky ones and I’m pretty sure this neon piece of knitted fun will be my 2016 addition.
I was trying it on in Turners | Sun | Rain | Snow in Marlow, hence the tag still attached (I promise you I didn’t half-inch it!). I have to say I’m all admiration for this independent ski and outerwear shop just off the high street in Marlow, because it really does punch above its weight, and frankly these days to last 24 years as an independent you need to be doing something really right.
If you’re heading off to the slopes – for lo, a miracle has happened pre-Christmas with some early season snow – you should defo check out Turners as it offers stylish European labels for men and women that are often really hard to find in the UK – Goldbergh, Colmar, Spyder, Ilse Jacobsen, Didriksons, Henri Duvillard and Napapijri, plus more regular staples like Hunter, Ugg and Super Dry and fashiony lifestyle brands like Charli.
I’m all for this Canada Goose chilliwack bomber, left (£650) but my wallet right now is more keen on this Super Dry biker khaki, right (£95). That’s the great thing about Turners, there’s a price point for everyone.
What else did I like? I’m a bit of a one for a bright yellow jacket, I can’t help it! The Colmar brand is a new one for this season.
Like this red number too by Goldbergh, as it would assist in locating the non-existent Muddy waist.
Also by Goldbergh is this foxy gold shimmer ski top – how fun is that?! It would be like skiing down the mountain like a Bond Girl, or a particularly stylish Ferraro Rochet.
The shop is very strong on accessories too – goggles, sunglasses, thermals, boots for snow and hiking, and my beloved bobble hats (there’s a whole delicious wall of them) including brands like Barts and Napapijiri.
If you’re nowhere near Marlow, fear not – Turners actually have a decent website, so you can do your research from the comfort of your sofa. Short of booking your chalet, sorting your ski pass and flirting with your ski instructor, I can do no more.
