Superflashy newsflash! The latest local goss

Piping hot news, coming atcha! This week: new openings, foodie discounts, and new reasons to shop til you drop.

New coffee shop alert!

Black Goo Coffee

Thame locals have a chic new coffee shop on the block – namely the mega-cool Black Goo Coffee, which you might recognise from its Muddy Award-winning Tring and Berkhamsted branches. Expect expertly-sourced coffee (obvs) as well as freshly-made nibbles, cakes and afternoon teas, all served up with Insta-worthy interiors.

Foodie news

The Marlow Bar and Grill

Eat Out to Help Out lives on in spirit at plenty of local eateries who are keen to keep the discounts rolling. The Marlow Bar and Grill (above) is offering 50% off on Mondays to Wednesdays for Club Individual members, while The Black Horse Thame and Brasserie Blanc on Oxford’s Walton Street are following suit and offering up to £10 off meals ordered on Mon-Wed.

Edamame Oxford

Japanese food lovers will be pleased to hear that Edamame in Oxford has just reopened its doors, with new safety regulations in place. If you want to satiate your sushi craving, you’ll need to book a table slot, so get in quick! But it’s a sad sayōnara to Oxford Chinese restaurant Sojo, which sadly shuttered its doors this week. We recommend the excellent Zheng on Walton Street instead if you’re after authentic Malaysian-Chinese cuisine.

Benefit x Bicester Village

Benefit pop-up at Bicester Village

Shopaholics might have spotted a very pretty-in-pink addition to Bicester Village recently, as the beauty gurus at Benefit have opened a brand new pop-up boutique. It’ll be open for the next six months, so plenty of time to pop in and pick up a few stocking fillers. Charlotte Tilbury has poppety popped up too FYI!

Liquid lessons

Muddy Award-winning café and Scandi haven NORSK in Haddenham, Bucks is starting coffee courses run by owner Simon (above, with wife and business partner Cathrine). The first one is set to take place on Mon 9 Nov, with max 6 people per event. There are more details to come, but reserve your spot now by emailing and you’ll be making the perfect flat white or macchiato in no time.

Kicks for kids

Wendover Woods

Looking for something new to do with the kids outdoors? A brand new Gruffalo Spotters trail is coming soon to Wendover Woods. Littlies will be able to follow the designated trail to spot signs of the fearsome beast using an augmented reality app and activity pack. No word on an opening date just yet, but keep your eyes on the website for more info.

I love Malaysian so I will try Zheng. If you’re peckish in Thame on a Tuesday, the Malaysian food stand in the market is amazing.
