Want to know the latest happenings in your hood? Oh but you're welcome.
Want some goss on the latest movers, shakers and candlestickmakers? (er, hang on, one of those isn’t right…). Read on, my friends, read on!
Shop while you sup
Bravo to Little Italy – the recently revamped super-stylish coffee shop in Haddenham (next village along to Thame, location surfers!) has just opened an Espresso Bar shop in store. Norwegian owner Catrina has superb Scandi taste and you can buy books, homeware, journals and more more more while you relax over your flat white or scrambled egg with avocado and chilli sauce on sour dough (er yes, it’s possible that I’ve tried this before).
Restaurant news at Westgate
The Westgate Centre is go-go-go but alas Venetian restaurant Polpo is no-no-no – the London stalwarts have pulled out of the project. You won’t feel the loss too greatly though, the top floor terrace includes Pizza Pilgrims (above), The Cinnamon Club, Sticks n Sushi and Dirty Bones.
A new tapas bar in Wallingford?
Apparently so! Stephane, former maitre d’ of Aston Tirrold’s respected Sweet Olive restaurant, is opening up his own gaff towards the end of November, with more patatas bravas, cured meats and tortilla than you can shake a stick at. Wallingford already has The Keep bar, so the town could well be on its way to creating a gastro and social buzz.
Nellie & Dove is expanding
Muddy favourite Nellie & Dove boutique in Deddington, North Oxfordshire, is set to double in size and open a menswear section in the New Year. Can.Not.Wait. In case that wasn’t enough work, they’re also holding a pop-up in Parson’s Green London on Nov 6. More deets to come on that one soon.
