Superflashy Newsflash!
The grooviest local gossip you'll want to know about this week.
Want to know the latest goss on the hip happenings around Bucks & Oxon? Course you do! Huddle in, I’ll tell you everything you need to know…
Brand new pub alert! The Fox (below) has just opened its massively revamped doors in the chi-chi ‘hood of Boars Hill, Oxford. I’m heading off there to review asap but if you make it before me, feed back my fellow sangliers.
North Parade in central Oxford has just had a serious fashion injection. New boutique Barley is so new the paint is still wet (not literally, that would be stupid). It’s a gorgeous building with pretty arched windows, just a hop and a skip from Brew, Popham Salon (next door) and 2 North Parade veg so it’s going to do very well. Expect well-priced womenswear, streetwear and, at the top of a delicious curving wrought iron staircase, an accessories, gifts, homeware and kidswear room.
After its successful collaboration with LASSCO Three Pigeons, The Native Feasts pop up is teaming up with Tap Social next on 30 Nov in North Hinksey Lane, Oxford for a tapas/beer combo.
South African-inspired cafe and restaurant The Cape in Beaconsfield (the only time I’ve eaten ostrich and my god it was amazing) is holding a 4 course fish night with Babylonstoren wine tasting on Thurs 5 Oct, and while we’re on the subject of special pop up dinners, respected delicatessen The Granary in Watlington is holding a special Autumnal supper on the same night. In Oxford Taco Bandits are currently rocking up at Barefoot Oxford’s Jericho café every Friday and Saturday evening from 7pm – 11pm, with tacos, tequila and Gael Garcia Bernal (hmmm, one of these is a lie).
Your local nail bar still annihilating your digits? Relaxez-vous, non-other than John Lewis will be offering its first ever express nail bar in its Westgate Oxford store from next month (because they’re never-knowingly under-filed).
Huzzah for The Swan restaurant at Tetsworth (below) – the stylish Muddy favourite has become so popular that it’s opening Thursday nights from next week and once a suitable French chef has been found, it will be nom-noms every evening.
Result for Oxford diners! The Cinnamon Club’s first non-London outpost is… Oxford! The Cinnamon Kitchen opens on 24 October at the Westgate Centre. Apparently one of the quirks of the new restaurant will be the portable trolley that makes it way through the restaurant dispensing food (and quite possibly wheeling me out again at the end of the night).
