<p>Amersham has a new eatery and it&#8217;s opened on the spot vacated by&nbsp;Côte in Old Amersham&#8217;s The Broadway. It&#8217;s called <a href="https://www.amershamhouse.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Amersham House</a>&nbsp;and I&#8217;m already loving its contrasting dark exterior and lime green café chairs and its simple and crowd pleasing menu (think salads, grilled meat and fish and a brunch menu &#8211; hallelujah). Make my table the teal banquette in the window.</p>



<p>An Oxford café that creates gorgeous buddha bowls, quiches, salads and cakes from surplus food waste is opening in a new location in Oxford to cope with high demand. The <a href="https://www.waste2taste.co.uk/cafe/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Waste2Taste café</a> opened recently in Cowley&#8217;s Shotover View, and is open Tues-Thurs 9.30am-2.30pm with daily specials based on what&#8217;s available and offers a kindness menu with free dishes bought by customers who want to treat someone less fortunate.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;ve not tried <a href="https://www.groundedkitchen.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Grounded Kitchen&#8217;s</a> tempeh bibimbap or salmon bao buns, you&#8217;ve got to get down there. The fast-expanding chain has opened its largest ever store offering its winning healthy Korean style food in High Wycombe no less (the others are in Nottingham, Birmingham, Oxford, Watford and more). This will be your new lunch go-to and it&#8217;s on Deliveroo so it can be your come-to as well.</p>

<p>The team behind foraged feast experience, <a href="https://experiencenomadic.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nomadic Dinners</a>, is going big with its five-year anniversary by bringing together four previous <em>Masterchef Professional</em> winners Laurence Henry, Dan Lee, Stuart Deeley and Nikita Pathakji, to each create a menu for its anniversary event in the Chiltern Hills forest glade. Each chef has created a course and a canape to be cooked over an open fire. It&#8217;s available on July 8 &amp; 9 only and I reckon it&#8217;s going to sell out with those big ticket names, so get in there quick. <p>A couple of Oxford haunts have reappeared on my to do list. First up there&#8217;s Little Clarendon Street&#8217;s <a href="https://www.instagram.com/angelsoxford/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Angels Cocktail Bar</a>, which has changed its name to Toby&#8217;s and got some suave new turquoise and gold signage (but mercifully hasn&#8217;t messed about with the recipe for its killer Pornstar Martini &#8211; if it ain&#8217;t broke). Second up is <a href="https://www.housebar.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">House Bar</a> on Wheatsheaf Street, a gorgeous little hang out with fab cocktails, pool table and a student vibe (without the sticky floors). It closed for a few weeks when the owner went into hospital but mercifully is back up and running. Cocktail crawl calls. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Talk about industrial chic: a restored engine shed in High Wycombe that was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel is set to open as an art and entrepreneurs space and café for the local uni students. Work is set to be finished next year. </p>

<p>Scandi homeware addict? Yup. Me too. So I&#8217;m a bit excited about this one &#8211; Danish homewares store <a href="https://sostrenegrene.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Søstrene Grene</a> is coming to High Wycombe. I see it somewhere between FlyingTiger/Ikea and Oliver Bonas, selling homewares, furniture, kitchen products, seasonal decorations, gifts, wrapping paper, cards, crafts, toys and accessories.</p>



<p>Little (and big) kids rejoice &#8211; MK is getting a new ten pin bowling venue with karaoke, laser tag, escape rooms, pool tables, cocktail bar and pizza restaurant. <a href="https://www.tenpin.co.uk/tenpin-milton-keynes/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tenpin Milton Keynes</a> opens in July.</p>

<p>Like your exercise to be the less conventional kind? Then I&#8217;ve got just the outlets for that excess energy. First up, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/moorswimandgym" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chesham Moor Gym &amp; Swim</a> (above) has brought back its midnight swim after a three-year hiatus. Swim under the stars on 17 June then sit back and enjoy a well-earned burger to reward your efforts, all for the ticket price of £15.   </p>



<p>If you don&#8217;t like getting your hair wet, how about <a href="https://peterleymanorfarm.co.uk/yoga-in-the-yurt/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Yoga in the Yurt</a>, which has started up again at Peterley Manor Farm with four classes a week in the heavenly surroundings of the farm with just birdsong and seven other sighing yogis for accompaniment. Dreamy. </p>

<p>The latest exhibition of sculpture is underway at <a href="https://www.sculptureatkinghamlodge.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kingham Lodge</a> in the Cotswolds. The sculptures include works by local artists and a number of artists from Zimbabwe, many of whom have not shown in the UK before. Donations and purchases of work and refreshments from the pop-up café go towards grants for infrastructure projects in Zimbabwe and Kingham has also purchased a wheelchair for one of the artists. Look out for John Lennon’s Psychedelic Eye (above), a mosaic he created in the 1960s go to alongside the pool at his Surrey mansion. </p>

<p>The headliner for the comedy stage at Bucks&#8217; Stowaway Festival has been announced and it&#8217;s a big one. Drum roll&#8230; Jack Dee is set to tread the boards at the festival&#8217;s <a href="https://stowawayfestival.co.uk/comedy-and-theatre/">Meadow Theatre stage</a> alongside the likes of Jessica Fostekew and Lou Sanders. On the music side there&#8217;s Little Dragon, Roy Ayers, Crazy P Soundsystem and tons more plus there&#8217;s epic food trucks, mind, body and soul workshops and a kids area. It&#8217;s 18-20 Aug at Blackpit Farm, Stowe.
