It&#8217;s been a long sad summer (cheers weather) but it&#8217;s time to turn that frown upside down as comedy hot spot, <a href="https://pottersarms.co.uk/laugh/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Potters Arms</a>, near Amersham, has just announced the return of its comedy night! On the third Thursday of every month you can catch both new and veterans on the comedy circuit (Andy Parsons and Rob Brydon have both appeared here recently) performing in the intimate pub surroundings. Kicking things off on Thur 28 Sept is Mock the Week&#8216;s Ben Norris, Mark Maier and Gary Colman.



That&#8217;s one night sorted &#8211; but what to do for laughs for the rest of the month? Get your giggle on at any of these stand up shows, that&#8217;s what.

It&#8217;s a great season for comedy at The Stables. For mini Live at the Apollo vibes, pop along to the superbly named <a href="https://stables.org/event/screaming-blue-murder-comedy-club-october-2023" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Screaming Blue Murder Comedy Club</a>, where every month new comics will be taking to the stage. Next month sees compere Andrew Bird introducing Russell Hicks, the man dubbed the next Jack Dee, and Karen Bayley who recently supported Joe Lycett on tour (18 Oct). Also on the roster is Rosie Jones with <a href="https://stables.org/event/rosie-jones-triple-threat" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Triple Threat</a> (2 Nov), <a href="https://stables.org/event/geoff-norcott" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Basic Bloke</a>, Geoff Norcott and his politically charged brand of humour (29 Nov), Russell Howard&#8217;s protégé, Andrew Bird with his show <a href="https://stables.org/event/andrew-bird-taken-seriously" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Taken Seriously</a> (26 Nov) and 2022s BGT winner, Axel Blake with his new stand-up, <a href="https://stables.org/event/axel-blake" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">In Style</a>, (1 Oct).

Irish trio <a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/foil-arms-and-hog-hogwash/new-theatre-oxford/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Foil, Arms &amp; Hogg</a>, will be serving up their sketch show, fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe (27 Oct) while Oxford-born-and-raised Miriam Margolyes will be letting her potty mouth loose in <a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/miriam-margolyes-oh-miriam-live/new-theatre-oxford/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Oh Miriam!</a>, (26 and 29 Sept). Ross Noble will undoubtably go off on a tangent in <a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/ross-noble-jibber-jabber-jamboree/new-theatre-oxford/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jibber Jabber Jamboree</a> (2 Nov), his 21st solo, stand up tour. If you&#8217;re not fussed where your laughs come from, try the <a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/comedy-ladder/new-theatre-oxford/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Comedy Ladder</a>, an evening of stand up live at the New Theatre&#8216;s intimate Piano Bar, (6 Oct).

It&#8217;s a small but mighty selection at Aylesbury Waterside with comedian, actress and 2021&nbsp;Strictly&nbsp;contestant&nbsp;<a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/the-one-like-judi-love/aylesbury-waterside-theatre/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Judi Love</a> bringing the energy with her first solo stand up tour (19 Nov). And Jimmy Carr returns for two nights with new material in <a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/jimmy-carr-terribly-funny-20/aylesbury-waterside-theatre/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Terribly Funny 2.0</a> (28-29 Sep). Love improv? There&#8217;s a whole night of unscripted skits in <a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/extreme-improv/norman-bragg-studio-aylesbury/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Extreme Improv</a> (30 Sep).

Plenty to smile about at MK Theatre with Dave Gorman bringing his <a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/dave-gorman-powerpoint-to-the-people/milton-keynes-theatre/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Powerpoint to the People</a> (29 Nov), and <a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/tom-davis-underdog/milton-keynes-theatre/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tom Davis</a>&nbsp;takes a break from acting (you might recognise him from King Gary, The Curse, Murder In Successville) to embark on his first solo tour&nbsp;(30 Nov). Personally I can take or leave&nbsp;Tom Allen&nbsp;but if you’re a fan you’re in luck – his new show&nbsp;<a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/tom-allen-completely/new-theatre-oxford/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Completely</a>&nbsp;is landing 24-25 Nov. And the biggie that keeps selling out so get in quick &#8211; <a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/dawn-french-is-a-huge-twat/milton-keynes-theatre/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dawn French Is A Huge Twat</a> where the comedian and actress continues to dish out her ‘most buttock-clenching embarrassing stories’ live (22 Oct).

There&#8217;s also Bridget Christie&nbsp;asking&nbsp;<a href="https://wycombeswan.co.uk/Online/tickets-bridget-christie-wycombe-2023" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Who Am I?</a>&nbsp;(22 Nov) and the small but mighty Rachel Fairburn &#8211; yes her from the podcast All Killa no Filla &#8211; is back with her brand new tour, <a href="https://wycombeswan.co.uk/Online/tickets-rachel-fairburn-wycombe-2023" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Showgirl</a>,(19 Nov).
