Matilda the Musical – the verdict

Hmmm, you’ve reached an older feature - let’s get you up to date! Read our latest Days out features here.

I told you I’d report back once I’d seen Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical at The Cambridge Theatre in London, and the report is… GENIUS. BRILLIANT. UNBELIEVABLE.

As you’d expect it’s spot-on for kids over six (under 6, and it will probably be a bit over their heads).

BUT, thanks to comedian Tim Minchin’s lyrics and music, Matilda is also hilarious for adults, and truthfully the best £40 on a ticket I’ve spent in a long time. It’s over two and a half hours long but felt like it went in minutes. I’ve already downloaded the soundtrack for my kids, all of whom are singing the incredbly catchy songs.

But don’t just take my word for it – have a look at the reviews. Then go see the production, and be a Muddy Stiletto theatre critic in the Comment box below…
