High street holidays – back in fashion?
I was doing my last minute panic at the Eden Shopping Centre in High Wycombe before Christmas when I did a double take at a new shop. It looked more like a very funky living room, all Sixties furniture, coffee table books and cool lighting. Then I realised it was a brand new Kuoni travel shop and bowled in to take a proper look. Doesn’t it look fab? I’m actually quite jealous about those shelf downlighters *sigh*.
Seeing Kuoni so prominent on the high street really chimed with me because I don’t know about you, but I find the internet trawl for holidays quite tiresome these days. You can spend days and weeks trying to shave off bits of money, but takes loads of research and planning and sometimes you’re not much better off at the end of it.
It’s a bit like Mark Zukkerberg with his new-found love of the old-fashioned tome over e-books, sometimes you just want something real and tactile. The incredible thing about technology is that it’s a massive enabler but quite often it enables you to do a lot of work yourself and I for one would like to offload it!
Anyway, next time you’re at the Eden Centre have a gander. At the very least they’ll give you a proper coffee and you can sit on the sofas flicking through glamorous travel magazines. Heaven.
