Antonia’s Favourite Places
Hmmm, you’ve reached an older feature - let’s get you up to date! Read our latest My Favourite Places features here.
Antonia Joyce, who runs Sanctum, the Home Counties’ first private pre-school club in Beaconsfield, moved to the local area a few years back, and now spends her days not only with her own toddler, but with dozens of others! Here are her favourite places.
I love browsing through the shop and the workshops at the back, and the owner is always willing to repaint pieces that I fall in love with. This shop fires my imagination and I always find things that I love. Oh, and the free delivery is a bonus too!
This pub really is at the heart of Seer Green, welcoming wellies, dogs and small children. They offer a villagers menu during the week and there’s always some event or entertainment to look forward too. And the vino and grub is fantastic.
Hillmotts Farm, near Sanctum
I love Hillmotts Farm in Beaconsfield, where my business is based. There’s always so much going on in the wilderness – red kites, pheasant, cows, deer and rabbits, as well as the strange chaps who dress up with fake handlebar moustaches to go shooting (or, er, maybe they’re not fake!).
Chalfont St. Giles
Bosham, West Sussex
I grew up messing around in dinghies in Chichester Harbour, sailing from Bosham, so this lovely West Sussex village is my favourite place of all. Memories of drowning my first car by leaving it on Bosham Quay overnight, skinny-dipping in Bosham creek, dragging my dinghy across the mud on a falling tide and sunbathing on the beach at East Head. Those were the days!
