Already a legendary name on the <a href="https://bucksoxon.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/whats-on-near-me/secret-adventures-woodland-feast-oxfordshire/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">alfresco supper club</a> scene, <a href="https://secretadventures.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Secret Adventures</a> is now offering its incredible outdoor dining experiences as <a href="https://secretadventures.org/adventures/the-woodland-feast/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">private events</a>. Be it a birthday bash, family celebration, summer party, hen do or even the ultimate team building event (beats a treasure hunt any day), this is going to be a day &#8211; or night &#8211; to remember. 



We&#8217;re thinking less beige buffet, more three-course seasonal meal sat at a giant oak table in the glade of mature woodlands in the Chilterns.

Private dining events start with a walk through the woods (stilettos best left at home), to be greeted by a botanical cocktail on arrival before tucking into a flame-cooked feast of seasonal goodies &#8211; previous dishes have included marinated and charred asparagus with fermented wild garlic and confit egg yolk with pickled mustard seed and smoked cider vinegar to start, then a main of seared venison, blistered rapini and smoked potato with beetroot and rhubarb ketchup and pickled wild garlic buds. For pud, it&#8217;s charred rhubarb with wild mint custard fool, and honeycomb and sponge biscuit. Well, we did say it was a woodland feast!



Swap out the venison, above, with smoked local Bix cheese and you have your veggies sorted. In fact, unusually for an event of this nature, the chefs can &#8211; happily and not grudgingly &#8211; cater for veggies, vegans, gluten and dairy free dietaries. The vegan pud of poached rhubarb with elderflower and wild mint jelly with charred rhubarb and honeycomb is a genius and not the least-bit parsimonious take on the original. So no-one misses out.

All that&#8217;s left after the meal is to gather round a campfire for homemade marshmallows and tea for some serious bonding time (ideal for a team building away day, no?) &#8211; or you can polish off the wine that&#8217;s served with the meal, of course. The feasts are offered at various points in the year so the whole event is weather-proof, with blankets and awnings alongside the campfire to keep you cosy when the weather&#8217;s not playing ball.

The magic happens in a secret woodland venue just outside Goring Heath, which you can get to from Goring on Thames, Pangbourne and Reading train stations if no-one wants to be designated driver, or you want friends from town to join. All that&#8217;s left is the tricky bit &#8211; deciding who to invite. We can&#8217;t help with that, but for the inspo, you&#8217;re welcome.

Lunch runs 1-4pm and dinner 6-9pm and kids are welcome but need to be aged 10 or over.
