Jo Munro appeal

I meet a huge number of awesome people with my job, from readers and other writers to small business owners  – it’s definitely the thing that keeps me excited about Muddy. In 2015, I crossed paths with a lovely woman called Jo Munro from Marlow, who came over to give me my first ever facial reflexology. It was so fantastic, I ended up adding her to my Little Black Book of best businesses.

In my review I focused quite a bit on Jo herself because I was so drawn to her positivity and sense of calm. This is what I wrote at the time: ‘Jo has the beautiful, calm demeanour of a woman who clearly at peace with herself – I just wanted to scream at her, hand over your inner karma, it’s mine!! – but thought that would freak her out and then she’d run off without reflexing my face. Here she is *sigh*. Just looking at her makes me feel relaxed.’

And here she is – see what I mean?

I received an email from Jo’s husband two nights ago with the news that Jo had gone in for surgery before Christmas for surgery to remove a lump her tongue and some lymph nodes in her neck. She suffered a cardiac arrest on Christmas Day and was put in an induced coma for 5 days. On coming out the other side, it was clear that damage had been done to her Visual Cortex. The upshot is that this amazing woman and mum of three is now blind. It’s uncertain that she’ll ever regain her sight.

Her daughters have set up a page to raise funds for her rehabilitation and eventual homecoming and I’m very glad to share the link here for those of you who know Jo or who are touched in any way by her  situation.

I don’t know Jo personally, only by her beautiful reputation and then heard about this awful news. I can’t imagine the strength needed to lose sight and speech – here’s praying that enough funds will be raised for her road to recovery.

Thank you so much for blogging about this – I’ll certainly be tweeting the link and giving to this incredible cause xxx
