Get ready for the Muddy Stilettos Awards!

Hmmm, you’ve reached an older feature - let’s get you up to date! Read our latest features here.

Well howdy doo, I have an exciting announcement to make today. It’s been on the radar or a while, but the Muddy Stilettos Awards are finally coming to town!

I’ve felt for some time that the brilliant places I visit need some celebration, so next month nominations will commence for the absolutely best restaurants, cafes, boutique hotels, B&Bs, interiors shops, country pubs, fashion boutiques, bars, spas, food producers etc in our area.

But this isn’t going to be just what I think. Much of the content on Muddy Stilettos is inspired by recommendations from readers, friends and acquaintances, so the nominations will be coming from YOU when the awards launch on 25 February.

The places with the greatest number of nominations will go through to the next round, at which point I’ll go and check them out personally (just in case there’s a brawler’s pub that’s sneaked onto the list!). A full list of categories will be released next month when the voting goes live.

When the finalists are approved, a second round of voting will take place – all votes counted on the blog so you can see your favourite’s progress – and the victors will be announced on May. Winners in each category will receive

– a Muddy Stilettos Awards Winner’s window rosette
– a trophy
– a dedicated feature in Muddy Stilettos
– publicity in the regional media

Watch this space – info will go up in mid-February. Get ready to vote for your local favourites – they deserve your support!

    Might I humbly suggest a ‘Local e-tailer’ category? 🙂 Love saffronbells.com in Wendover x

I think an awards ceremony could be a lot of fun. Would it work to have the advertisers there, too, pedalling their wares in some way?

Depending on when it is going to be, I could probably help in some way…

You’ll regret saying sentences involving the word ‘help’ to me LOL!

The awards are a great idea – there’s nothing like local recommendations to find fabulous new places to visit and a Muddy Stilettos rosette would certainly encourage me to try somewhere new. An awards ceremony would be great recognition for the winners and a fun night out for readers but you’d probably need a sponsor to help cover the costs – maybe something for the second year of the awards once it’s a proven success! xx

Sounds like a great idea. Would us local traders be able to encourage our clients to nominate/vote, and advertise the awards in-store/online. At the same time this should drive more visitors to Muddy Stilettos too!

Yes definitely. All people will have to do to nominate a business is to register to the blog. The more nominations the greater chance of the business getting through to the final. I’m writing and designing the micro site in the next week so hopefully it will be up for early February with everything made clear. Hx
