The Muddy Guide 1 – 7 March

Hmmm, you’ve reached an older feature - let’s get you up to date! Read our latest What's On features here.

David Gandy speaks! 1855 bar, Oxford, Fri 5 March

Er, oh no he doesn’t. There was a cock up at Oxford Fashion Week, but am I going to take down the Gandy’s photo? Am I hell!

Oxfordshire Science Festival, 7-23 May

Geeks ahoy! It’s always a tricky one trying to make science exciting for the masses – even an intellect as stratospheric as mine can only take so many lectures on macroparticle nuclear sublimation in a week. But there, I’m only human. This Science Festival has some truly geeky lectures but there’s also some fun bits like free family science events like Magic Science family event on 6 March; Wow! How? at the Natural History Museum 15 March.

The Evolution of Friars exhibiton,  Bucks County Museum, 1 Mar – 5 July

Friars in Aylesbury was an influential live venue and this exhibition features rare posters, photos and memorabilia from the likes of Blondie, Bowie, Iggy Pop, Genesis and Thin Lizzy. Go to your virtual moshpit and get ready to pogo.

Blast Off! With Kid Carpet, Cornerstone Arts Centre, Didcot,  Sun 2 March

Kid Carpet is actually an ex pop star called Ed Patrick, who has previous toured with Badly Drawn Boy and Mylo. Now he conposes funny songs for children to sing along and be silly to, and is apparently rather good at it.

Suitable for ages 4+. Tickets £8, £6 (concs).

H&M opens, Clarendon Centre, Oxford. Thursday 6 March

Kerching! That’s the sound of the H&M tills next Thursday when it opens its long-awaited 3 floor, 3,000 sq m store in central Oxford at 11am. Get there early and you’ll given a wristband entitling you 25 per cent off products on the day. It’s the first branch outside London to stock H&M Home for Children so if you can’t shop for yourself, go fill your trolley for the little people.

Jacob’s Chop House, Headington, Oxford, opens 4 March

New restaurant alert. Joining Jacobs & Field cafe in Headington and Jacobs Inn in Wolvercote comes Jacob’s Chop House, the latest culinary outing in the fast-expanding empire of Jacobs head honchos Johnny and Damion. So spanking new it’s only had one weekend of test eaters, Jacobs Chop House throws open its doors officially next Tuesday so I shall *heavy sigh* simply have to go and try it out and report back.
