Uh-oh. Drunk at the UK Blog Awards *sigh*

Hmmm, you’ve reached an older feature - let’s get you up to date! Read our latest features here.

Well would you believe it? Not that I was half-cut at an Awards ceremony, that’s entirely expected. What I mean is that Muddy Stilettos was awarded joint runner up in the Most Innovative Blog at the National UK Blog Awards! Mind blowing!

A sincere thank you to everyone who took the the time to vote for me. No cigar this time, but hey, I made it into the Oval office. For a staunchly regional blog like mine, it was amazing to get so far. Seriously *snuffle*, thank you.

I went to the Awards on my own, but the good thing about going to an evening with bloggers is that everyone is a lone ranger, and so it was a bit like speed dating, just walking up to people you liked the look of and introducing yourself.

Here’s Helen Foster on the left (a health and fitness journo and author I bumped into who I’ve actually known for years and used to commission regularly at the Indy) who came runner up for her blog Health-e-Helen. And in the middle is Rona, who was runner up for her flower blog Flowerona. I also met Julie from the brilliantly named The Fat Girls Guide to Running, the lovely Ben who writes Life as a Widower  and even better his superfun friend Adja, with whom I dusted off some Eighties dance moves to the horror of the other guests. Let me tell you, we were busting some serious irony out there.

I was so tipsy I took this totally unartistic pic of St Paul’s in drunken awe, then realised I’d left the number for Blacklane’s London limousine’s service at home and I couldn’t connect to the internet to retrieve it (*sigh*). So I grabbed a black cab, and proceeded to leave my Highly Commended certificate in the back on my dash out to Marylebone. Basically it’s the same old chaos that always surrounds me. But you know, I rather like it that way!

Tried to say goodbye but you were obviously hiding behind the statue as I left and I didn’t see you. Lovely to see you again, and, seriously, let’s talk Essex!

Dangerous being around too many bloggers at once – everyone seems hellbent on a good time! How are you Ms Lizzie? Looking forward to catching up soon x
