Yay for National Spa Week!
We don't need to be asked twice to strip off, don a fluffy bathrobe and lounge in luxury. Here are our fave local spas.
Now here’s a cynical marketing ploy we can fully get behind – it’s National Spa Week! Yes please to lolling around in a fluffy robe and being pampered, preened and rubbed (um, not like that). On a serious note, a new survey by the UK Spa Association reveals that 60 percent of us admit to being unequivocally stressed, with only 16 percent of people spending their relaxation time actually relaxing (frankly, smartphones have a lot to answer for). The answer? Get thee to a spa pronto! Luckily we have some beauties in our ‘hood, so here are our Muddy picks.
The Spa at Stoke Park, Stoke Poges, Bucks
One of world’s must-visit spas, according to Vanity Fair and pretty damn fine – see my full review here. We especially love the ’60 style relaxation pod chairs.
Spa Illuminata at Danesfield House, Marlow, Bucks
Accessed via a glass walkway from the main hotel, the star of this spa is the gorgeous, glittering 20m indoor pool. There’s a huge range of treatments on offer and children are only permitted at certain times which allows relaxation levels to be turned up to 11.
The Spa at Hartwell House, Aylesbury, Bucks
I went here for a facial earlier this year and came out looking about 12 so they’re obviously doing something right. Love the fact that they offer treatments/products from cult Icelandic brand Bioeffect, and the Palladian swimming pool is seriously gorgeous. Read the full review here.
Aquarius Spa at Whatley Manor, Cotswolds
A space-age facial in a snazzy oxygen tent? Call me Michael Jackson and get me to this Grade II listed Cotswolds manor house right now! Read our full review of Aquarius Spa here.
Cowshed at Soho Farmhouse, Great Tew, Oxon
Exhausted from all that celebrity spotting at the Soho House chain’s rural idyll outpost? (The Beckhams are moving in next door soon, by the way.) Then you need to reboot in the sleek Cowshed spa. Our favourite bit? The indoor/outdoor swimming pool.
The spa at Cliveden, Taplow, Berks
My review of the newly refurbished spa is coming soon so watch this space but your starter for 10 – it’s the only one in the land to offer Sarah Chapman’s outstanding, celeb-favourite facials. And surroundings don’t come any more exquisite than this National Trust property and five star country house hotel.
