Sometimes it’s just fun to look at something beautiful, isn’t it? I came across mosaicist Becky Paton on Instagram a few months back and have followed her avidly since. An Oxfordshire-based artist who did a degree in Public Art and Design at Chelsea school of Art, she creates these stunning pieces, all of which are nearly a metre wide. They take months to create and so, lamentably, they are well out of my price range at £7-10k a pop, but seriously, if I had the money I’d buy one in a flash. They’d make an incredible statement piece for a large wall, don’t you think?
Previous works have included Elizabeth I, St Francis and Becky did this beautiful portrait of her daughter. She loves to do works on a large scale but I’m half-wondering if i can persuade her to do a small one – it would be an incredible gift or portrait, wouldn’t it?
You can catch Becky in the Covered Market in Oxford for Oxford Art Weeks in May, so I’ll remind you nearer the time to check out her glorious creations, or you can have a gander at her website and admire at your leisure.
