I’ve tried not to feature this bag on account of its Oxford University embossed stamp (popular with the Japanese who like to pretend they’ve graduated from Christchurch with Sebastian Flyte). But it’s just too lovely to deny it.
The slouchy satchel has been in fashion via speccy creative types for years now, but also has a growing market in women like me who are fed up of diving into bucket bags and scuba-diving through babywipes, car keys, half-eaten biscuits and tampons for the creative briefs we know are in there somewhere.
I love the dark faux-worn leather, the extravagant buckles and pockets, the promise that there’s something veryimportant nestled within its orderly folds. More importantly I like the fact that it reminds me of a time when I couldn’t (wouldn’t) cook, watched Neighbours at 5pm, and played more tennis than was good for my Beowulf. Love it.
