Sandy Lane Farm, Tiddington

Surrounded by banks of wildflowers and grasses, this 100-acre family farm grows more than 300 varieties of vegetables and hosts regular open days for locals. If you miss it, the farm’s freshly harvested fruit and veg is sold year-round in the farm shop, plus produce from other local makers. Eyes peeled for their seasonal suppers throughout the year too.

FarmED Café, Chipping Norton

Doubling up as both an educational space for farming, sustainability, and biodiversity as well as a gorgeous café, the FarmED is the place to savour something delicious while ogling the sweeping views of the Evenlode Valley. The café has been beautifully decked out, and the field to fork philosophy means what you’re nibbling on literally grew up just down the lane before it mooed, clucked, or oinked its way to your plate. Open for breaky and lunch using seasonal produce from the farm and local producers.

Lopemede Farm, Long Crendon, nr Thame

Perched amidst the rolling hills of Oxfordshire, Lopemede Farm is more than just a patch of land – it’s a hub where community, nature, and good food come together. Each month, the farm opens its gates for lively food events, where guests can soak in the views, nibble on seasonal delights, and feel the rhythm of the land beneath their feet. Peterley Manor Farm, Great Missenden

What started out as a few crates of produce sold at the farm gate has come a looooong way from the derelict poultry farm it was in the 80s when the Brills took it on and started selling their home-grown veg. It now boasts a gorgeous (and Muddy Award winning) café in a converted tractor barn called The Barn Kitchen, a plant nursery, pick-your-own and one of the region’s best-stocked farm shops.

Oxmoor Farm, Great Missenden

Head to Oxmoor Farm, nestled in the beautiful Chiltern Hills, for top-notch cooking in The Barn – its newest addition serving up Neapolitan-style pizzas, small plates, natural wines and coffee with gorgeous views over the farm and surrounding woodlands. Oxmoor Farm also has a rep for its rural supper club, introduced in 2022. Each month, a different chef hosts a “wild feast” dinner using the finest local produce.

Worton Kitchen Garden, Cassington

This gorgeous farm shop-cum-restaurant on Worton Farm, north of Oxford, was nominated for a Best Local Restaurant Award from The Good Food Guide last May, so if it’s not on your radar yet, it soon will be. This secret oasis is a culinary eco-mecca, as 70% of its menu comes from food grown on the farm’s ten acres. The outdoor tables are surrounded by banks of flowers (cue buzzing bees and butterflies darting around), or there’s a glasshouse for dining on cooler/rainy days. Worton keeps things fresh with a menu of creative events too: everything from dahlia arranging to painting classes.

Bruern Farms, Chipping Norton

This lovely North Oxfordshire farm is passionate about three things: building a healthy ecosystem, growing wholesome nutritious food and building a vibrant community. It ticks those boxes with aplomb, serving up food straight from the farm at its pretty café – from sourdough and seasonal veg to saddleback pork, wild venison and English longhorn beef. It even makes its own sunflower oil and mills its own flour, which is supplied to local bakeries and restaurants. Walk off those homemade pancakes with a trot round the farm and the Foxholes nature reserve next-door.

Diddly Squat Farmshop, Chipping Norton

Jeremy Clarkson’s much-hyped Chipping Norton enterprise needs little introduction. Still, for anyone who hasn’t watched Clarkson’s Farm, starring publicity-game Jeremy and girlfriend Lisa Hogan, plus agricultural associates, Diddly Squat Farm has a farm shop of the same name and the Big View Café. Based in a former lambing barn, it’s fairly rustic but the celeb pulling power gives it traction. The food comes c/o Baste Food – think skin-on fries topped with pork belly from Jeremy’s Sandy and Black pigs, slow-cooked in a house sauce. Even if Clarkson is not to your taste, the F&B at his ever-expanding empire (his pub, The Farmer’s Dog near Asthall) could be up your street.

The Cheese Shed, Nettlebed

The Cheese Shed, a Muddy Award-winner, is a much-loved unique proposition around these parts. Based at Nettlebed Creamery near Henley, it’s the spot for a cheese toastie (quelle surprise), as well as ice cream, cake or even a kefir smoothie. There are walks and cycle rides to work off the dairy load, and dogs and well-behaved owners are super welcome, as there’s plenty of space in the barn and the adjacent yard. Helena Bonham Carter happens to be the cheese-loving aunt of owner Rose, so she pops up from time to time at the shed and on Insta.

Farm & Table, Banbury

Conceived and run by chef owner Pawel, who grew up on a farm in Poland, Farm & Table serves food from the earth using ingredients grown organically on the neighbouring Wykham Park Farm (yes, it’s organic) and its kitchen garden. The vibe here is that food doesn’t need to be fancy; it needs to be fresh, rustic, and real. Pawel baked his own sourdough in lockdown and he’s not kidding: the bread here is freshly baked each day using only four ingredients: flour, water, salt and chia seeds. He’s big on foraging and anti-waste too. Top marks.

The Old Shed, Charlbury

In the mood for a gorgeous Cotswolds coffee house? Look no further than The Old Shed at Charlbury, which offers cracking coffee and cake, breakfasts and lunches from its picturesque setting at Banbury Hill Farm. As the name suggests, it was once a neglected shed, but this family-run business has been given a suitably Cotswolds makeover to suit the RangeRover set. Forest trails give the kids somewhere to roam during school holidays too. No need to book: it’s walk-ins only.

Bishop’s Court Farm, Dorchester-on-Thames

Come for the alpaca walks, stay for the superb locally sourced food at The Snug café at this 300-acre farm in rolling South Oxon countryside. Based by the river at Day’s Lock, it even has three mooring spots – so arrive by boat if the whim and the tides take you. The Snug, run by head chef David McCleary, is open for breakfast and lunch, and there’s certainly no chicken nuggets here.

Herd at Todenham Manor Farm, Moreton-in-Marsh

Just over the Glos border, at Todenham Manor Farm in Moreton-in-Marsh, Herd Restaurant (which only opened in Dec 2024) is turning farm life into a feast. Their seasonal farm to table concept is a celebration of ingredients sourced directly from the 900-acre farm and is overseen by award-winning chef Christopher Ellis. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week and is perfect for every occasion.
