<p>A gorgeous gastropub in a village outside Henley, owner Jill Sikkens doesn&#8217;t do anything by halves &#8211; from the artisan cocktails to the picture-perfect dishes and the pub&#8217;s one-and-only Flight Club. It&#8217;s a tasting menu with a difference &#8211; the evening starts with a cocktail, canapes and live music then it&#8217;s onto a five-course tasting menu with creative wine pairings and themed cocktails. <p>Henley&#8217;s riverside boutique bolthole has a twice-weekly live jazz night (as well as wine tastings, workshops and more). Every Friday 7-10pm and Sunday 12-3pm, the hotel&#8217;s picturesque courtyard oozes smooth tunes. Sax, double bass, guitar and flutes have all taken centre stage &#8211; highlights this year include the Lawrie Wright Trio and Otto Caretta and Friends. With farm-to-table food from <a href="https://restaurantdominicchapman.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Restaurant Dominic Chapman</a> and handcrafted cocktails &#8211; martini obvs! &#8211; it&#8217;s all about good times. </p>

<p>Rock classics, soul, ska &#8211; the menu musical mood music suits all sorts at Joe&#8217;s, then there&#8217;s the long established Sunday Jazz Spot. The Summertown eatery has NY vibes with its long banquettes and black-and-white music photography. If you want to watch local artists and eat great burgers in a friendly and unpretentious space, Joe&#8217;s is calling.</p>

<p>The performers at this gorgeous riverfront tapas bar are very much not about background music but front and centre stage. Alongside the tapas (classics like patatas bravas and tortilla as well as superb seafood and meat dishes) there&#8217;s cocktails and a big wine list with plenty by the glass so you can taste around. On selected Friday evenings and on Sunday afternoons, join artists like Spanish singer and guitarist Pedro and the crowd-pleasing showman Max Curto (above). He&#8217;s Bourne End&#8217;s answer to Michael Bublé, who brings the place alive (and occasionally to their feet for a boogie). </p>

<p>MK&#8217;s Browns is a real gem, serving up brunch (bottomless Fri-Sun), lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, cocktails, and kids menus. Everyone&#8217;s catered for &#8211; and it&#8217;s hot on the food allergy side with dedicated menus and lots of info about its dishes, so really does cater for everyone in the gang. Oh &#8211; and there&#8217;s live music too. Keep an eye on its social to see what&#8217;s coming up and who&#8217;ll take the seat the the gorgeous grand piano in the bar.</p>

<p>This striking hotel and restaurant on the Waddesdon estate is just as pretty on the inside, so drop by and catch one of its monthly Jazz Nights (the <a href="https://www.fivearrowshotel.co.uk/whats-on/waddesdon-jazz-august-2024-2wbd3-5mtbd">next date is 30 Oct</a>). With musicians from across the world booked to play electrifying and soulful jazz melodies in the Coach House, the Waddesdon Jazz Club is a fabulously immersive night out. Of course, you&#8217;ve got two AA Rosette, seasonal, local food to savour before the music too.</p>

<p>This brewery and bar has live music coming out of its ears with up to three acts a week crossing genres from 90s dance music to jazz and blues. What to drink&#8217;s obvious (though there is wine and spirits for the haters). Soak it all up with hand stretched pizza from Proof Pizza&nbsp;using dough from its own bakery,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.proofbakehouse.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Proof Social Bakehouse</a> (served Thurs, Fri and Sat).</p>

<p>There&#8217;s always a great vibe at Fat Lils and it&#8217;s as loved by locals for its varied music offering as its owner, Paul, once a touring musician himself. Take this month &#8211; a Depeche Mode tribute band, King Awesome arena rock and British Alt-Folk artist Henry Grace. So there&#8217;s something for everyone. Grab a meal before the curtain goes up at <a href="https://www.theedgeatlils.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Edge at Lils</a>, with its killer burgers, tacos and burritos plus hard shakes if you like your booze milky.</p>

<p>Whistlers is waaay more than a restaurant &#8211; it also hosts live music, comedy and open mic nights and wine and cheese tastings. Check out its socials for what&#8217;s coming up &#8211; next month is an acoustic duo, Carrick, playing guitar, mandocello, ukele, bass, fiddle, tenor guitar, flute and cajon between them, then in December, it&#8217;s over to classic rock and roll with the Rymatones. The food&#8217;s good too btw (2 AA Rosettes!) and there&#8217;s a good value set menu &#8211; £30 for two courses Weds-Sat before 8.30pm.</p>

<p>This former garage has been refurbed by Oakman Inns and now has a luxe Art Deco vibe going on.
