Spring supper clubs

If you fancy something a little different from your local gastro-pub then take a peek at these awesome supperclubs popping up over Bucks and Oxon this spring.

Run by Durban native Shabir Ally, Durban Spice offers dining experiences in Shabs’ home in Wheatley, Oxfordshire. The menu is revealed on the night but you can expect a five course seasonal menu of fragrant and authentic South African food made with top quality local produce. BYOB.


Native Feasts, Peterley Manor Farm, Great Missenden, Fri 26, Sat 27 Apr, Fri 3, Sat 4, Fri 10, Sat 11 May 

Book that babysitter ASAP – supper club aficionados Native Feasts pop up in the vintage greenhouse at Peterley Manor Farm with five course menus all made with local spring produce. On the menu for April is wild garlic cracked spelt risotto (yum), pressed shoulder of Oxfordshire lamb (double yum), rhubarb and ginger fool and more. There’ll also be a pop-up bar serving artisanal tipple in the form of an English wine list, seasonal cocktails and soft drinks.

Granary Watlington, Fri 26 Apr, Thurs 16 May, Fri  31 May

I’m a big fan of The Granary and its hard-won reputation for its superb cheese and deli offering. It’s 2019 supper clubs are in full swing for Spring with March offering a pasta making masterclass with Pasta Evangelists- you’ll learn to make your own fresh pasta and then be served it for dinner with paired wine, ciao bella! Prema’s Kitchen, Coopers Roastery & Coffee Bar, Marlow, Sat 11 May

Prema’s kitchen has been on the pop up supper club scene for a while, spending the last three years at Old Butchers Wine Cellar in Berks. Now the team are coming to a larger venue in Marlow, with a four course menu of authentic Sri Lankan dishes including Koti Isso (tiger prawns), Kukul Mas (chicken thighs in homemade spices) and Polos Curry (a  jackfruit curry), £45.

The Secret Supper Society, Fri 19, Fri 26, Sat 27 Apr, Fri 3, Fri 10, Fri 17, Sat 25 May  

A secret society with a secret menu, each date promises a completely new menu inspired by the season. It’s BYOB (with no corkage charge) with tea, coffee, bread and homemade chocolates included in the cash only price. Loads of dates have just been added so take your pick.



Smoke and Thyme, Thurs 25, Fri 26, Sat 27 Apr

Young chef/blogger Jack Greenall’s super groovado supper clubs have already sold out for  Mar, but don’t worry- there’s a few dates lined up for April so get booking ASAP if you want to secure a spot. The events are pay-what-you-want, based on how much you think the evening is worth. Smoke & Thyme will also be popping up at Botley’s hip hangout and brewery, Tap Social Movement, with scrummy sounding fried chicken, Thurs 11 –  Sat 13 Apr. Veggies catered for too. And on Sat 4 – Mon 6 May Jack’s self proclaimed beautiful and unjustifiably expensive polished wooden table will be turned into a humongous charcuterie board from 1pm, it’s £25 plus BYOB, tickets here.



Waddesdon Pudding Club, Sat 9 Mar

Pudding? Er, YEAH. The Manor restaurant’s head pastry chef Craig Clark and his team have put together four dessert courses to satiate that sweet tooth. Each course will be complimented with a glass of fizz or wine chosen by The Manor’s in-house wine advisor and there’s a cheese board chucked in for good measure.



The Yafo Kitchen, The Manna Community Cafe, Botley, Sat 9 Mar 

Event catering and private dining venture The Yafo Kitchen host a Mediterranean pop-up with a sharing, tapas style menu including homemade hummus (my favourite), lamb koftas (my second favourite) and cake soaked in cardamon syrup (ok, I like it all). Tickets are £30, veggie options available. BYOB.

The Garden Café, Miserden Greenhouses

It’s pop up crazy over at Miserden with The Garden Café hosting a series of foodie ventures for 2019. Michelin trained pro chef Rory Baxter (he’s worked under Gordon Ramsey and Raymond Blanc) will rustling up some Brit classics with a modern twist on Thurs 14 and Fri 15 Mar.

Sneaky Supper Club, Isis Farmhouse, Sat 23 Mar

Sneaky Supper Club pops up at Isis Farmhouse (book that babysitter now!) with a five course seasonal menu of pigeon breast, confit salmon and more, plus live Gypsy Jazz. If you’re looking further afield, there’ll also be a supper club at the London Cooking Project HQ in Battersea on Fri 29 Mar.

Pickled supper club, Hamblin Bread, Iffley Rd, Thurs 28 Mar 

Eight courses inspired by pickle? I kid you not (there’s even a pickle inspired drink). Oxford based Cranston Pickle have teamed up with chef Jack Denning to curate a menu inspired by the vinegary delight. It’s a local affair with meat from Waterperry Farm Shop, fresh veg from Sandy Lane Farm and beers from Tap Social Movement. Currently there’s no vegetarian option but get in touch if your a veggie and really want a pickle fix.
