<p>Amorous action on Concorde, a telegenic naked tennis match between Alex Hassell and Emily Atack, and backstabbing, bottoms and big hair galore. Yes, the Disney+ adaptation of Dame Jilly Cooper’s 1980s bonkbuster <em>Rivals</em>, which landed on Fri in a whoosh of Krug and Diorissimo, <a href="https://muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/film-tv/back-stabbing-big-hair-and-bottoms-galore-disneys-rivals-has-landed/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">is a total hedonistic hoot</a>. Naturally, we’re desperate to join the party in Rutshire – Cooper’s fictionalised take on the Cotswolds. So, check out these Rivals-esque properties we&#8217;ve found for sale in the ‘hood, punch some numbers into your brick mobile to get the estate agent on the case, and say hello to these honey-stone cottages and manor houses within chopper distance of Rupert Campbell-Black’s Penscombe Court. Even if you don’t have the bank balance of Lord Tony Baddingham required to make an&nbsp;<em>actual</em>&nbsp;offer, you can still channel the&nbsp;<em>Rivals&nbsp;</em>vibe with a spot of property porn. Dame Jilly would approve.</p>

<p>Set in the desirable village of Woodmancote (I’m feeling the Rutshire vibes already), Tudor House is a Grade II listed stone Cotswolds home believed to date back to the 18<sup>th</sup> Century. This charming £1.1m property has period features galore, plus a huge entrance hall and kitchen with separate utility. Yes, yes – but what about the bedrooms? There are three, all kingsize, and the master bedroom has a walk-in dressing room. Outside, there’s a large lawn for entertaining &#8211; and it&#8217;s enclosed by a stone wall with high hedges, making it <em>very</em> private. Say no more.</p>

<p>Want to ogle – sorry, admire the sporting prowess of – the polo players at Cirencester and Westonbirt? This four-bed house in the sought-after village of Hatherop will put you within easy second-husband-stalking distance. It’s been lovingly restored by the current owners, so no need to call the interior decorator to spruce-up the Laura Ashley pelmets, but it’s kept its Grade II-listed period character. The price? About £1.45m, so quite a stretch unless you&#8217;re an 80s TV exec. But as a bonus, the gardens back on to impressive parkland which is apparently ideal for vanishing on ‘walks’. Possibly with somebody else&#8217;s husband.</p>

<p>Moving up the property ladder, I reckon Trewsbury House could do a fair house-double for Penscombe Court, Rupert Campbell-Black&#8217;s honey-stone family seat. Set in a commanding position on the edge of the village, this splendid country pile is approached by a long drive (obvs) and has plenty of space for entertaining guests, with seven bedrooms and 13 acres. What do we find there? An an ornamental pond in a sunken garden (late-night tryst alert), a heated swimming pool (chill the Moet!) and, last but <em>definitely</em> not least, a tennis court discreetly placed beyond the ha ha. Anyone up for naked doubles? Sold for £4.65m to the handsome blond gentleman with a thumping hangover and a brunette on each arm.</p>

<p>We all love a Jilly Cooper heroine on reduced means who struggles to keep the hot water on (I&#8217;m thinking <em>Rivals</em>&#8216; Lizzie Vereker, a novelist in a lonely marriage). So here&#8217;s a property for the (slightly) more modest budget of £875,000. For that you&#8217;ll get a double-fronted stone cottage that backs onto pasture and has a lovely view of open fields and a pretty village church. Sounds like peak Cooper to me. Now you just need the filthy rich but golden-hearted electronics magnate to come calling.</p>

<p>Another one for the supporting players in the Cooperverse. (Well, we can&#8217;t all have Rupert Campbell-Black&#8217;s inherited cash). The charming two-bed Willow Tree Cottage ticks all the boxes for Rutshire living: it&#8217;s built in traditional Cotswold stone, it&#8217;s set in a conservation area, and it has buckets of character: at one point it belonged to the village station master, and there are stone steps in the back garden leading down to the old railway embankment. Make tracks here for circa £850k.</p>

<p>Looking for a family home where you can bring up your gaggle of free-spirited and high-cheekboned children, just like <em>Rivals</em>&#8216; Declan O&#8217;Hara and clan in fictional home The Priory? I&#8217;ve got my eye on Elborough, a timber-framed five-bed property dating back to the 15th Century. Plenty of atmos here, with leaded arched windows, huge open fireplaces and an elegant carved staircase. There&#8217;s even a trapdoor leading from the kitchen to a wine cellar. Just picture the late-night hi-jinks if you can rustle up the necessary £1.45m.</p>

<p>And finally, we need a property suitable for <em>Rivals</em> arch-villain Lord Tony Baddingham &#8211; and I think this magnificent manor house in Edgworth fits the bill. Importantly, it has a helipad so you can land the chopper after a board meeting in London, then stride through the baronial entrance hall as master of all you survey. For £13.5m (*call Coutts*) you get almost 20,000 sq ft and 56 acres to roam, including lawned terraces, a summer house, meadows, woodland and a lake. Oooh, and I spot a stable block too. Did anyone see where Lord Tony went with that pretty groom? </p>
