<p>When we want to feel a little less frazzled and are in need of a luxurious &#8216;there, there&#8217;, Muddy turns to this knockout hotel. <a href="https://www.horwoodhouse.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Horwood House</a> in Little Horwood – just 15-20 mins drive from Milton Keynes, Buckingham or Leighton Buzzard – offers pretty grounds and a Grade II listed manor house that effortlessly balances heritage charm and modern decor, with state-of-the-art luxury.</p>



<p>Having undergone a £6m refurb, the attention to detail is clear and the spa is worth having on your radar. H Spa is Horwood House&#8217;s small-but-perfectly-formed sanctuary. While spa packages feature use of the pool, sauna and steam – for those attending to just enjoy a treatment, they make exclusive use of the peaceful Spa Lounge instead. This is a tranquil spot, perfect for a relaxing escape from the buzz around the hotel and outside world.</p>

<p>Elegant without being pretentious, the spa (read our review <a href="https://bucksoxon.muddystilettos.co.uk/lifestyle/wellbeing-lifestyle/spa-review-h-spa-at-horwood-house-milton-keynes/">here</a>) is tucked away in its own quiet corner of the sprawling hotel featuring spa loungers, swinging egg chairs and tables set for tea or brunches included in the spa packages. You’ve the welcoming and rather smart <a href="https://www.horwoodhouse.co.uk/harrys-bar.html">Harry’s Bar &amp; Kitchen </a>nearby should you want to dine or enjoy a tipple after. The spa area itself is spotless and includes secluded spots to chill out pre- or post-treatment, I’d recommend bringing a friend and enjoying a treatment plus good catch-up together.</p>

<p>H Spa introduced No needle Mesotherapy this spring and it’s steadily increasing in demand (for both one-off treats and regulars) as word is getting around. Those looking for radiant skin, a snatched jaw, lip plumping and smoothing of fine lines are choosing this over Botox. The non-invasive treatment is pain-free (think hot stone massage and tingling), relaxing, and requires no downtime or risk of bruising. It works by pushing skin treatments deeper into your skin through electrowaves and pulses.</p>

<p>Before the treatment, the therapist gave me a consultation and told me (to my delight) that she would be able to reduce redness, prevent further acne breakout (damn hormones), lighten my forehead lines and reduce the pigment of my sunspots. Big promises indeed.</p>

<p>Following an enzyme peel, my face and neck was massaged with a wand producing a warm, red light (electromagnetic waves) to stimulate natural collagen production. This was followed by another wand moving over my face which produced electric pulses to rejuvenate the skin. Ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, vitamins and peptides were used to plump up and feed my tired, thirsty skin (note to self, reduce wine consumption). While I waited for the ingredients to sink in, I was treated to a hand and head massage – bliss.</p>

<p>This 90 minute luxury treatment felt very much tailored for my skin&#8217;s needs and as the therapist took before and after photos, she was able to highlight how much my skin had been in need of an MOT and some TLC. Brutal. The results were glowingly apparent and I was particularly impressed with the jaw tightening. </p>



<p>Hello cheekbones, where have you been hiding? I think I look younger and my skin has never looked so buffed and polished. You can expect the immediate results to keep improving for three days and then start to fade out, which is why they recommend a course of six followed by monthly maintenance (surely only right that I also test this out?) I floated out of the room as the whole experience had been delightfully zen and relaxing, with staff brilliantly knowledgeable and non-judgy. The results are natural looking and aren’t anywhere as drastic as Botox – which isn&#8217;t necessarily a bad thing.</p>



<p><strong>GOOD FOR:</strong> Anyone over the age of 16. They have a mum and daughter who regularly enjoy the treatment together, plus a man who was delighted with a course for full body rejuvenation. &nbsp;For skin in need of a party season radiance boost, Mesotherapy is a fab option. If you often fall asleep in make-up or use micellar water instead of a three-step routine (guilty!) this is also a great way to reset your skin following busy life negligence.</p>



<p><strong>NOT FOR:</strong> Those who are pregnant will want to wait to indulge in this. Also anyone with very sensitive skin may want to give it a skip as it’s uses strong, concentrated ingredients (however I have been told that they may be able to tweak the process for you, so do enquire if you&#8217;re curious).</p>



<p><strong>THE DAMAGE</strong>: With four treatments to choose from: Skin Volumizer, Skin Radiance, Meso Lift with Radiofrequency and Meso Age Solution 360 (which is what I enjoyed) prices range from £170-£250 with extras available. </p>
