<p>You&#8217;ll find <a href="https://bucksoxon.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/glow-beauty-long-crendon/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Glow Beauty</a> salon just outside Long Crendon in mid Bucks, on a small industrial estate that also includes 2021&#8217;s Muddy Award-winning hair dressers Unit (handy if you&#8217;re after a style combo of blow dry <em>and </em>mani-pedi). Owner Amelia Skingle is a bit of a beauty Girl Wonder &#8211; she won a 100% scholarship to train at Champneys and then, on completion, started her own business last year &#8211; and she&#8217;s still only 21.</p>

<p>Clearly though, she knows her stuff. Using predominantly Elemis, Clarins, Liz Earle and Neale&#8217;s Yard products, she&#8217;s best known for her her intimate waxing (not a service routinely offered in mid Bucks) and her Builder Gel Nails (BIAB), a new service thats overtaking normal gel nails because of its durability, ability to strengthen and reshape nails, and much easier removal. If you&#8217;re after a massage or facial there&#8217;s also a small treatment menu for these.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">THE VIBE </h2>

<p>Industrial chic. It&#8217;s a small unit with just the reception area and treatment room, but it&#8217;s been given personality with touches like the corrugated iron reception desk and neon &#8216;Glow&#8217; sign. I particularly liked the treatment room where a lot of thought has been given to lighting during massage treatments &#8211; ambient colours projected on the walls shifted from greens to pinks to blues and felt very relaxing. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">THE TREATMENTS </h2>



<p>A new treatment is catnip on Muddy so <em>of course</em> I tried the Builder Gel manicure. My nails have previously been wrecked by gels &#8211; my own fault for picking them off as they grow out &#8211;  so I&#8217;ve steered away from them in recent years. The Build In A Bottle (BIAB) gel is unique in that it can be soaked off using acetone, preventing weak nails. </p>



<p>I love bright colours with my nails but that&#8217;s as adventurous as I get (tip: be prepared to ponder literally hundreds of colour options). I&#8217;m typing a million miles an hour most days so I didn&#8217;t want tip extensions, although this can be easily done with builder gel if you struggle to grow your nails. The treatment is very much like a normal gel manicure, although the nail varnish is more viscose and &#8216;builds&#8217; so if, for example, your nail bed is low it can help raise it.</p>



<p>Here are my nails, beautiful non? Four weeks later, and there&#8217;s still not a chip on them, so they&#8217;ve been a real success, and if you&#8217;re thinking about bang for your buck, great value.  </p>

<p>I&#8217;m afraid I can&#8217;t give you any feedback on intimate waxing as I chickened out in favour of a lava shell massage (can you blame me?). I&#8217;m a massage nut and like a firm pressure, which was duly applied, and I&#8217;m pretty sure I drifted off, so that&#8217;s a good sign! At £50 for a 55 minute massage it&#8217;s good value too. </p>

<p>A steal. A full one hour facial is £48, the 55 minute massage is £50 and a full leg wax is £25. You&#8217;ll save enough money to try the BIAB gel nails &#8211; yours for £28.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">THE MUDDY VERDICT</h2>



<p><strong>Good for:</strong> Anyone wanting to try the next big thing in nails &#8211; BIAB has been trending heavily on IG. The single treatment room means you have privacy and 100% attention and Amelia has a winning, professional manner. Budget-conscious beauty lovers will love the prices.</p>



<p><strong>Not for: </strong>No car, no way of getting here! Also, if you like to &#8216;make a day of it&#8217; by having your beauty treatments in a swanky town salon and then mooching around the shops, this isn&#8217;t for you.  </p>
