Burnham Beeches Hotel, South Bucks
Close to Windsor and on the edge of the Burnham Beeches nature reserve, this country house hotel is serene and foxy in equal measure following a gorgeous new glow-up.
Once a part of Windsor Great Park, Georgian gem Burnham Beeches sits on ten acres of manicured lawns, snug in the Bucks country just shy of Slough.
You wouldn’t be alone in gawking at its handsome architecture. Built in 1727, it quickly became the talk of the town; so much so that poet Thomas Gray was inspired by the hotel to write his famous poem Elegy in a Country Churchyard. Hundreds of years later, this four-star beauty continues to attract A-list guests – most notably, the England football team, who stayed here during the 1996 Euros.
The hotel has raised the bar yet again thanks to a multimillion-pound refurb, unveiled in November 2024, which has given this country house bolthole a seriously sexy glow-up with a sultry colour palate, designer furniture, bags of luxe soft furnishings, gorgeous bedrooms, a stylish lounge bar and refreshed spa.
The four-star hotel’s 80 bedrooms and suites have always had a chic edge, thanks to their period features and countryside views, but this year’s reno has given them a whole new slinky vibe. Think massive padded bedheads, exquisite wallpaper, comfy beds and all the mod-cons you’d expect like free wi-fi, plasma screen TVs, spacious work areas, gleaming en-suites, hot drinks and room service.
The refurb has seriously raised the Burnham Beeches Hotel’s wedding creds too. It’s long been a wedding venue favourite for its expansive grounds, function rooms and gorgeous food, and it’s now exactly where you want to be before and after the Big Day for insta memory-making. Dine in the glam Brasserie 1727 restaurant or head to the newly designed Verdure Lounge Bar for afternoon tea and cocktails – it now has a serious statement bar with gorgeous green tiles and velvet bar stools.
Being between Bucks and Windsor is a huge perk of staying here, as you have free rein to roam nearby attractions such as Windsor Castle (a 20-minute drive away) and Legoland Windsor (a 30-minute drive away). Although having said that, it’ll be a miracle if you can tear yourself away from the hotel’s Soul Spa, which has a refreshing swimming pool, two luxe treatment rooms, and a gym equipped with the all the latest exercise tech – including a brand-new treadmill with interactive display, Peloton Bike and immersive Magic Fit AI Fitness mirror.
Time to book that weekend away, darling.
