Café Coco, Oxford

Muddy says: This Cowley Road institution is a locals’ favourite thanks to its buzzy bar and excellent all-day dining menu.

A Cowley Road institution, Cafe Coco has been in situ for almost 25 years and its popularity shows no sign of waning – get in early or book to avoid disappointment. It’s loud, vibrant and quirky – visiting bands often hang out here after playing the O2 down the road and autograph the walls, so you may find yourself sharing a space with Gaz from Supergrass’s scrawl. The cocktails, pizza and coffee are all delicious as are the more virtuous options – I’ve tried the superfood salad, crammed with edamame and feta, and it’s as filling as it is tasty. My children love it here too – they pass the time giggling hysterically at the nudey sculpture on the bar.
