Café Tarifa, Oxford

This buzzy Oxford bar/restaurant brings a little slice of sunny Spain to Cowley Road with its tapas and cocktails.

If you’re going out for an evening in Oxford but not sure where to go, get thee to Cowley Road pronto for a wander. The student-y, vibrant, boho thoroughfare is blissfully tourist-free and rammed to the gills with cool bars.

Of which this is one – as the name suggest, the colourful Café Tarifa is a buzzy, busy Spanish bar so bring on the Rioja and mojitos I say. Hungry? I’d go for shakshuka eggs, or maybe a manchego and serrano ham platter. And if the sun makes an appearance, head to the terrace and bask in the rays – squint and you could almost be in Andalucia.
