Hairdressing salons can often look a bit identikit, but Celtic Magpie Hair has a strong sense of individual identity. Set up in 2013 on the first floor of the Rookery building in Faringdon (above the groovy Rookery café), Celtic Magpie hair is all whitewashed brick walls, industrial downlighters, natural wood and lots of light.

Its major calling card is its environmental credentials with products carefully chosen not just on their organic content but after investigations in how they are produced and how they are delivered. There’s even an interior living green wall in the salon, and a refill station for products for 15% off the retail price.

None of this would be of interest if the hairdressers weren’t any good but both Shayne Evans and Kirsty Carpenter have been awarded the title of Master Craftsman in Hairdressing.
