The Coconut Tree, Oxford
Sample the flavours of Sri Lanka at this quirky, friendly bar and restaurant, serving street food and signature cocotails at prices we love.
This quirky, lively restaurant and bar in St Clements, Oxford, serves traditional Sri Lankan food and cocotails (signature cocktails) with recipes passed down through generations. Food is served as small plates, so the trick is to order lots and get sharing (or, be greedy — also good). Enjoy sumptuous Sri Lankan delights like hoppers (amazing bowl-shaped pancakes with punchy sauces), kotthu (chopped roti fried with veggies or meat), and fragrant curries. But make sure you don’t overlook the cocotails! We love the Drunken Sri Lankan (Arrak, turmeric, lime, ginger beer and cointreau), as well as the fact that they come in sharing sizes too.
Prices are EXTREMELY reasonable (especially for Oxford) with cocktails from £7 and curries for £7.50. The Coconut Tree is also known for its parties, and it’s a great place to go with a group of friends. Plus there’s a garden, so on warmer days you can squint and pretend you’re holidaying in Sri Lanka. Get us a table, stat!
Even better? With the Intro Your Crew offer, you can get 50% off Mon-Weds, midday till 6.30pm. Now that’s hard to resist.
