Creation Theatre Company, Oxford
Putting on quirky, entertaining performances in a range of locations across Oxford, Creation Theatre reworks old classics and offers great workshops for kids.
Champions of outside-the-box productions, Creation Theatre has long been a Muddy go-to for exciting and anarchic performances of both classic and contemporary texts in a mishmash of locations across the city: Sunnymead Meadow, the subterranean Norrington room in Blackwell’s bookshop on Broad Street, and even the escalators in Westgate Oxford (yes, really!) to name a few.
Creation Theatre was also a God-send in lockdown, keeping us entertained with engaging virtual stories delivered by professional actors from within their own homes. It continues to offer its Home Delivery service to save knackered parents: a year-round term time online drama club for 5-16s that gives life to some of literature’s best loved stories (and entertains the rotters for an hour or so).
Creation also offers half-term entertainment, giving kids the chance to put on a play in a week. Up next, the company is putting on a School of Creativity taking place in Oxford, Wolvercote School and St Andrew’s Church, available from 25 July – 2 Sept.
