Creation Theatre Company, Oxford

Putting on quirky, entertaining performances in a range of locations across Oxford, Creation Theatre reworks old classics and offers great workshops for kids.

Forget red curtains and polite clapping – Creation Theatre has long been the Muddy-approved antidote to conventional theatre. Expect thrilling, anarchic productions in wild and wonderful places – from Blackwell’s subterranean Norrington Room to the escalators at Westgate (yes, really). If there’s a stage, it’s probably not where you’d expect it.

Next up, it may be spring, but the vibe is chilling. The talented crew will transform the Ovada Gallery in the centre of the city into lamplit Victorian London for an electrifying adaptation of Jekyll & Hyde from 29 Apr – 17 May. As always, the dynamic theatre company places you in the heart of the action; it’ll be edge of your seat stuff.

Beyond the shows, Creation Theatre’s School of Creativity workshops are a brilliant way to fire up young imaginations during half-term and school holidays. These 1-day or week-long drama camps help kids dive into storytelling, flex their performance chops and put on a final day showstopper for friends and family. Confidence? Boosted. Applause? Earned.
