Creation Theatre Company, Oxford
Putting on quirky, entertaining performances in a range of locations across Oxford, Creation Theatre reworks old classics and offers great workshops for kids.
Champions of outside-the-box productions, Creation Theatre has long been a Muddy go-to for exciting and anarchic performances of both classic and contemporary texts in a mishmash of locations across the city: Sunnymead Meadow, the subterranean Norrington room in Blackwell’s bookshop on Broad Street, and even the escalators in Westgate Oxford (yes, really!) to name a few.
Creation Theatre was also a God-send in lockdown, keeping us entertained with engaging virtual stories delivered by professional actors from within their own homes, and offering a Home Delivery service to save knackered parents: a term-time weekly digital adventure for kids aged 5-16 giving life to some of literature’s best loved stories (and entertaining the rotters for an hour or so). Creation also offers half-term entertainment, giving kids the chance to put on a play in a week.
Up next, the company will be putting on a Christmas family production of Pinocchio in December, at The North Wall Arts Centre, 15 Dec – 3 Jan. It will also have a digital theatre experience on over this period, so stay tuned for updates!
