The position of the Grade II listed Georgian inn of The Horse & Groom is  completely idyllic – on a hilltop in Bourton-on-the-Hill, overlooking the surrounding landscape, pretty village and large rear garden. If those fabulous views don’t make it onto your Instagram feed, nothing will.

Under its new owners, things have changed a bit – the high-end gourmet dining of old has given way to classic, hearty pub grub. We highly recommend the roasts and burgers, especially if there’s a big gang of you to feed. Meanwhile the five double B&B rooms upstairs now have a low-key country-chic vibe (rather than the previous boutique hotel style). Most are dog-friendly and all make for a comfortable and convenient base for exploring the Cotswolds.
