Howe Farm Flowers, Thame

We love this brilliant Bucks flower farm for its fields brimming with colourful blooms (hello, Instagram fodder), handy seasonal workshops and the chance to pick your own cut stems with a spot of tea and cake after.

The story of this picturesque flower farm near Thame is The Good Life brought bang up to date – Californian self-taught florist Amber traded in a stressful career in London for fields of flowers in the Bucks countryside, where she carefully grows, tends and cuts every stem herself (unless she’s guiding you around the farm to pick your own, of course).

Her seasonal blooms are perfect for weddings and events (we loved them so much we decorated The Ashmolean’s Rooftop Restaurant with them for our Muddy Awards 2023!), but if you want to select your own bouquet for home, simply book a slot on the website during the PYO season – Thursday, Friday and Saturdays, 9am to 12pm, June to mid-September, FYI – and turn up armed with your best gardening gloves and secateurs to select up to 30 gorgeous flowers to take away. Want to make a day of it? There’s an option to add tea and cake for two after a long morning frolicking in the fields.

That doesn’t mean the farm goes quiet once PYO season is over – far from it. Instead, Amber holds creative workshops like her ever-popular Christmas wreath workshop, how to grow your own cut flowers, and bouquet arranging mornings. These are popular and get booked up in advance, so if you see one, snap it up – it’s an ideal day out with mums, daughters and girlfriends.
