Humphry’s at Stoke Park, Stoke Poges
If you're looking for somewhere really special for lunch or dinner, then Humphry's at the jaw-droppingly stunning Stoke Park in South Bucks is will do nicely.
How does a restaurant with 3 AA rosettes suit you? Humphry’s fine dining restaurant at the five star Stoke Park hotel and spa is an absolute corker for a special occasion. I’ve eaten here several times and can vouch for the food, but that’s probably no surprise as the exec chef here is Chris ‘Great British Menu‘ Wheeler, who also won Catey’s Hotel Chef of the Year 2016 and has just brought out his first stand-alone cookbook.
Expect a formal space (no under 12s allowed – haha!), with a muted interiors palette, and glorious floor-to-insanely-high ceiling windows with an exquisite view out across the gardens and lake. You can also see the bridge designed by one Humphry Repton – the restaurant’s namesake, who was the last great landscape designer of the 18th century.
Prices are on the high side, reflecting what is undoubtedly a fine dining experience, but the 3 course set lunches are great value at £35 per head. If you have money to spare, spend it on a bedroom in the mansion house – ask for the room where Bridget Jones romped with Daniel Cleaver!
