Nephele started out as a business selling jewellery and accessories, but soon began making bags out of leather off-cuts that were discarded by bigger factories. Via a company in India that employs skilled tailors from families who have worked with leather for generations, every scrap bit of leather is utilised — the tiniest pieces will be used to make keyrings and jewellery.

It’s a really lovely concept, and a surprisingly bold finish: Nephele bags are bright, modern, at times clashing: utterly, undeniably cool. Colours are mixed and matched with animal-style prints on hair-on-leather, and best of all is the fact that no two combinations are the same. Each bag is entirely unique! For sartorial divas like ourselves, that has some serious appeal.
