How’s this for a bit of local talent? Sky Wave Gin has taken the world of spirits by storm since being set up in 2018 by Andrew Parsons (a former Royal Signals Army Officer) and Rachel Hicks (a former BBC presenter). After Andy attended a gin-making course, was hit by inspiration, and ordered a two-litre test still on the way home, the couple set up shop in Bucknell, Oxfordshire – and the rest, as they say, is history.

Andy and Rachel now make a whole host of award-winning gins, including their Signature London Dry Gin (aka The World’s Best Contemporary London Dry Gin, according to the experts at the 2020 World Gin Awards), Navy Strength London Dry Gin, Raspberry and Rhubarb Gin, Liberation London Dry Gin and Orange and Madagascan Vanilla Gin. The Signature London Dry Gin is the standout, made with Oxfordshire natural mineral water from Blenheim Palace as well as botanicals including juniper and orris root, grapefruit and orange, and cardamom and coriander for a beautifully smooth, warming blend. Every gin is made in ultra-micro batches – literally, a handful of bottles at a time – by either Rachel or Andy, so you know you’re in good hands here.

In early 2021, Sky Wave moved to its brand new home at Bicester Heritage, which mean they had the space to open their doors to the public (lucky us!) for distillery tours and cocktail masterclasses. What better way to taste Sky Wave’s wares and decide your favourite – if you can?
