The Crown, Playhatch

A charming old pub nestled between the Chilterns and the Thames, with a hearty British menu, 10 en-suite rooms and a pretty barn space for hire.

Found in the picture perfect hamlet of Playhatch on the Berks/Oxon border, near Henley and Reading, you’re going to love The Crown. Think charming 16th century inn with 10 en-suite country-contemporary bedrooms in calming neutrals offset with statement wallpaper!

Unlike some pubs that offer strong snuggly wintery vibes or lovely outside seating for summer, The Crown nails it all year round. There’s a fabulous terrace out back with comfy seating and roaring log fire and snug inside. Plus, there’s an on-site car park (rejoice!).

Foodwise, the pub offers all day dining with a selection of home-cooked, classic British dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. Either way, the Chilterns are just round the corner for post-roast walks (Fido is welcome in the bar area).

Also worth knowing is that this pub has a cool events space The Barn for hire with beautiful exposed beams and a team on hand to take care of your whole shindig, from dressing the room to planning the menu. Yes please, and thank you.
