The Key Clinic

Muddy says: This West Berkshire clinic offers a neuroscience-based approach to help children with learning and behavioural difficulties including dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, autism, anxiety and Asperger’s.

Psychologist Sarah Warley and her team at The Key Clinic  in Hampstead Norreys, West Berkshire treat children diagnosed with learning and behavioural issues, such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD, autism and Asperger’s. Often parents – and their offspring –  feel that they just have to learn to manage their condition, be it with medication or talking therapies but the clinic offers an alternative approach.

Sarah, whose qualifications include an MA in experimental psychology from Oxford University, specialises in neuroplastic therapies – essentially,  stimulating the brain into rewiring itself. New research in neuroscience shows that the brain isn’t static, as was once thought, so it has the capacity to evolve. The clinic offers a multi-disciplinary approach, which includes cranial osteopathy, nutrient therapy (targeting the brain’s neurotransmitters using vitamins and minerals) and auditory therapy (apparently often children’s speech issues are connected to quirks in their hearing). They can also help teenagers and adults struggling with anxiety and depression. If you’re uneasy about the culture of pill-popping to treat children, it’s definitely worth having a chat with Sarah.
