The Parks Trust, Milton Keynes

Lover of all things outdoorsy? Then give a round of applause to the peeps behind your favourite green spaces across Milton Keynes.

Love a mooch around parks, meadows, and just about any green space with a view? Us, too. But who exactly keeps all the grass mowed and the trees lively green? Enter the silent hero of Milton Keynes’ greenery upkeep, The Parks Trust.

It’s no secret parks and woodlands can get the short end of the stick when it comes to government funding, so the charity decided to take it into its own hands over 6,000 acres of greenery (so … more than a few trees, then) and from what we see the staff and volunteers are doing a stunning job.

Take local favourite Grade II listed Campbell Park for example, with its rich wildflower meadows, cricket pitch and sledging spots come winter. Or better yet, Willen Lake’s endless activities – from open swimming and paddleboarding to high rope courses and pretty walks – there’s plenty of fun but even more work done behind the scenes.

Since 1992, The Parks Trust has handled all the chopping, trimming and planting needed to keep natural spaces positively gorgeous and healthy for your days out – you heard right, trees also need some serious TLC.

Beyond the upkeep, the charity is quite the host, with over 500 events organised across MK grounds each year – think educational talks and walks, local festivals, community fun runs and national holiday events. Whether you’re heading to Caldecott lake or Hazeley Wood, chances are, you’re walking on the community driven efforts of The Parks Trust.
