Guided by the skilful hand of Owain Jones and Luke Mayor, this thatched pub in quaint West Hanney boasts a community all-are-welcome atmosphere. Combining their expertise – Owain climbed his way up from washing dishes at his local pub to working at hospitality giants Hilton and Marriott, and Luke is a former sous chef at award-winning boutique gastropub White Hart at Fyfield – The Plough doesn’t cut corners when it comes to hearty seasonal dishes.

The menu is all beloved pub classics: sirloin steak, beer-battered fish and chips and an indulgent bacon double cheeseburger. Alongside the staples is the small plates menu which offers nibbly bits the likes of Parma ham, Napoli salami, and peeled prawn. For afters, The Plough has a seriously impressive dessert menu; we’ve got eyes on the banoffee parfait, but the sticky toffee pudding and chocolate delice are not to be missed (why not get all three – one for dining in, two to go?).

Perhaps most impressive about this local haunt is its eco-conscious farm-to-table approach – all ingredients are sourced from local farms or Owain’s family farm in Wales. So, whether you’re eating bread, burgers, or veggies, you know it’s super fresh and seasonal – plus there’s the bonus of helping out small businesses, which the team are passionate about.

There are various menus to choose from, including a BBQ summer menu with canapés and vegetarian options, plus a party menu which offers 2-course and 3-course meals that make organising for a big bash easy as pie.
