Need a change of scene from the whole WFH thang but with decent coffee and proper wifi? Enter Unity Place, a community hub that cut the ribbon this year and is already proving a buzzing addition to MK’s town centre.

The building is spread across eight floors, each tailored to work or play. Starting with the serious bit, the second floor comprises a sleek office space designed by award-winning workspace biz x+why, so you know it’s going to be a serious step up from the home office Zoom backdrop. Think contemporary design furniture, natural light, pot plants and no clutter. There’s a co-working and breakout space, private offices, meeting rooms, phone booths and a kitchen. If you like a bit more buzz, try the Santander Work Café with co-working desks and meeting rooms that can be booked from just two hours at a time, plus a super-modern auditorium for an audience of up to 300.

What about lunch? Tuna melt, begone! On the ground floor, the Urban Food Market hosts a range of street food vendors – think authentic Greek salads, stone-baked pizzas, and Jamaican jerk chicken. Plus, there’s a massive seating area so you can step away from your screen to enjoy your pulled beef brisket souvlaki or sweet black vinegar-braised aubergine with spring onion, garlic, ginger and chilli. Want something a little more substantial? Dipna Anand’s Kitchen and Bar, a Punjabi and South Indian joint, is open from 4pm Weds-Fri and from 11am at weekends. Pop in for beautifully flavoured curries and grill dishes that are elegantly presented and perfect for sharing.

Speaking of bars, Unity is also home to the ever-so-chic rooftop bar Unity Sky Lounge (already an Insta hit), which serves classic British tapas alongside artisan cocktails, Toast ales from the on-site microbrewery and sustainably sourced wines.

Also at Unity? A barbers, a little corner store with Amazon Just Walk Out tech and a bakery. Once you’ve logged off for the day, Unity Place runs an imaginative roster of after-work events with a decompressing vibe. Head to the Urban Food Market for Wimbledon and Euro 2024 screenings, pop-up shopping, trivia nights, live music and more. Meanwhile, the rooftop Sky Lounge bar hosts Sip n Paint sessions and drag nights – and summer music sessions are set to follow soon.

It’s a place built with sustainability high on the agenda too. Serious eco-creds include rainwater harvesting, solar panels, reusing surplus bread to make beer (genius!) and social enterprise support. And, of course, the building runs on green energy. Good vibes all round.
