This year’s Christmas panto at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre is sure to draw in the panto regulars as well as a fresh crowd itching to see rising star of the silver screen Bradley Riches (Heartstopper) as Pan. Super fans read on: You could catch the original story at the Milton Keynes Theatre before moving onto his further adventures at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, as above! Especially given the calibre of the casting at MK. I mean: Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood as Captain Hook and West End star&nbsp;Ross Carpenter&nbsp;as Peter Pan. Genius. You can always rely on Creation to put a spin on a classic and this year&#8217;s telling of Grimm classic Hansel &amp; Grettel (yes that&#8217;s the correct spelling here!) will be no exception. The mobile and digital theatre company is taking up residency at Oxford&#8217;s North Wall Theatre and transforming it into a winter woodland complete with the Witches of Winter. The birds circling overhead are the only ones who can see the wood from the trees (and save us from the evil witches). It&#8217;s on from 1 Dec &#8211; 4 Jan. The main event at The Swan is the story of the lamp-rubbing boy and the genie, but the big news is that Wycombe has secured two massive stars: Vernon Kay (who scooped the award for Best Panto Newcomer at the UK Pantomime Awards for his performance as Dandini in 2022) and drag performer and veteran dame La Voix (13 Dec- 5 Jan). There&#8217;s quite a bit else on at the Wycombe Swan across Nov and Dec too. Cuddle up for a Christmas song nostalgia fest with <a href="https://trafalgartickets.com/wycombe-swan-theatre/en-GB/event/other/step-into-christmas-tickets" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Step into Christmas</a>, try <a href="https://trafalgartickets.com/wycombe-swan-theatre/en-GB/event/other/fannys-festive-bingo-brunch-tickets" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fanny&#8217;s Festive Bingo Brunch</a> (ooer missus), or the theatre&#8217;s ABBA-themed festive fun times.

The panto at the Chippy Theatre is always a calendar highlight for Muddy &#8211; the costumes, the performances, the music and the choreo. Always original, always a cut above (read our review of last panto season&#8217;s <a href="https://bucksoxon.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/arts-culture-things-to-do/review-cinderella-the-theatre-chipping-norton/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cinderella</a>, pictured above). This year&#8217;s production of Jack and the Beanstalk sees Jack in the Viking kingdom of Smorgasbord with Gertrude the talking cow and a band of musical horned helmets. It&#8217;s sure to be a riot. Runs 13 Nov &#8211; 12 Jan. Also check out <a href="https://www.chippingnortontheatre.com/events/the-nutcracker-cert-tbc">Royal Opera and Ballet: The Nutcracker</a>, which will be shown live at Chippy in mid Dec.

Henley&#8217;s fab little historic theatre has such a broad range of events throughout the year, from magic shows to author talks and ballet, and it&#8217;s much-loved for its festive panto too. Snow White is the chosen story this year with Immersion Theatre taking the reins &#8211; if last year&#8217;s Jack and the Beanstalk is anything to go by, expect audience participation by the bucketload, lots of laughs, great costumes and a high energy affair. Runs 14-30 Dec. Also on the <a href="https://thekenton.org.uk/events/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">festive line-up</a> is The Nutcracker, and various Christmassy performances including Bye Bye Baby Christmas and the Ratpack Christmas for the crooners out there.

The clever beans at Oxford Playhouse are appealing to the ticket buyers here by giving this year&#8217;s panto an 80s spin. Expect laughs and nostalgic music for the grown ups and plenty of &#8216;oh no he didn&#8217;t&#8217;s&#8217; for the kids. On from 22 Nov &#8211; 5 Jan. Also offered in the build-up to Christmas is <a href="https://www.oxfordplayhouse.com/events/hurry-up-father-christmas" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hurry Up Father Christmas</a>, a cute show for littlies with plenty of quiet performances if it&#8217;s their first go in the theatre.

<a href="https://didcotrailwaycentre.org.uk/product.php/855/a-christmas-carol-performed-by-gerald-dickens" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">A Christmas Carol</a> at Didcot Railway Centre on 17 Dec is performed by Gerald Dickens &#8211; an actual relation of Charles! Train transfer to the performance shed is included. Meanwhile, Didcot&#8217;s main arts venue, Cornerstone, is putting on <a href="https://www.cornerstone-arts.org/whats/cinderella" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cinderella</a> from 18-31 Dec and the rapidly selling-out <a href="https://www.cornerstone-arts.org/whats/elf-advent-ure" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">An Elf Advent-ure</a> on 8 Dec for little ones. Over in Oxford, take a look at the Pegasus Theatre, which has <a href="https://pegasustheatre.org.uk/show-listing/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Elves &amp; The Shoemaker</a> lined up from 11-24 Dec. It&#8217;s a mash-up of Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Gingerbread Man, and Cinderella, aimed at slightly younger kids with singing and puppets. Then there&#8217;s The Story Museum&#8217;s <a href="https://www.storymuseum.org.uk/whats-on/cinderella-ice-cream-seller" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cinderella Ice Cream Seller</a>, which we&#8217;re already loving for the play on words alone (21-31 Dec). If you miss the boat before Christmas, Millets Farm Centre is offering <a href="https://www.milletsfarmcentre.com/christmas-performance/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Stealer of Stories</a>, a tale about Grimm himself, on 29 &amp; 30 Dec to get you through the betwixtmas low.
