<p>Summer events in Bucks and Oxon are going out with a bang, or more aptly the sweet purr of an engine and pop of a champagne cork. There are chi chi car festivals, local art exhibitions aplenty and a free riverside music festival with chilled drinks and vibes on tap. Add this lot to your diary before those boring meeting requests roll in.&nbsp;</p>

<p>We’re calling it: farms are the new<a href="https://bucksoxon.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/arts-culture-things-to-do/famous-artwork-in-oxfordshire-buckinghamshire/"> galleries</a>. This weekend sees an arty takeover at Oxmoor Farm, with exhibitions from local artists, masterclasses on everything from watercolours to candle making and tailor-made craft boxes and unique hanging art available to buy. Live demos will fire up your creative juices and your digestive ones will be well served by freshly fired Neopolitan pizzas, washed down with a cocktail or glass of something chilled from Lloyds Wine mobile shop. If you’ve ever been seized by the desire to paint gilded letters on glass or make your own jewellery (just a few of the workshops on offer), the time is now.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Tickets are £5 and it’s art for a good cause:&nbsp;all proceeds will support the Oxford Kidney Unit Trust Fund and the Oxford Young Adult Clinic, a unique community service for 18 to 30 year olds with kidney failure in the Thames Valley.</p>

Expect supercars, vintage beauties, concept cars, and more polished chrome than you can shake a Champagne flute at – all set against the outrageously regal backdrop of Blenheim Palace. With gourmet dining, flowing fizz, and a strict garden party dress code (bring your best linen and loafers), this is not your average car show – it’s <em>the</em> car show. Goodwood who?&nbsp;</p>

<p>Back for its fifth fabulous year, Buckinghamshire Open Weekend is the county’s much-loved arts celebration – and best of all, it’s completely free. This year’s theme? Nature and stories. Because honestly, what could be more inspiring than the great outdoors? For local creatives, this is more a chance to showcase latent (and not so latent) talents, get inspired, and share something truly unforgettable with the community. There&#8217;s plenty for young children and families, and pleasing dollops of quirkiness for all &#8211; check out <em><a href="https://buckinghamshireculture.org/event/le-carnaval-de-venise-a-circus-opera-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Le Carnaval de Venise</a></em>, a wacky mash up of circus and opera in Chalfont St Giles (well, why not?) and <em>The Longest Yarn 2: Britain at War</em>&#8211; a 60-metre knitted/ crocheted tapestry marking 80 years since VE Day at Chiltern Open Air Museum, complete with that iconic sailor&#8217;s &#8216;kiss&#8217; immortalised with knit-one-pearl-one.</p>

<p>Unsure what to do with your sunflowers in the home straight of the <a href="https://bucksoxon.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/kids-summer-holidays-whats-on-near-me/">school holidays</a>? Cart budding artists off to the Yurt at <a href="https://bucksoxon.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/peterley-manor-farm/">Peterley Manor Farm</a>, where the talented team at <a href="https://www.easelydoesit.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Easely Does It</a> are running sunflower themed kids painting workshops. </p>



<p>For those aged eight and over there’s Van Gogh inspired starry night sunflower sessions using soft pastels, or sign little ones aged 3-7 up for the leaf-printing. The workshops close with a family ‘sunflower crown’ painting workshops so you can all hone your brush skills. You’ll need to accompany your brood but everything’s supplied (including aprons) to make your art attack experience as low-mess and low-stress as possible.</p>

<p>Race car lovers in the house? Take your little ones (5+) to Oracle Red Bull Racing HQ for a 2hr tour. A kid’s ticket up to 12 years is £36 (£96 per adult) and gives you a closer look at the race cars, as well as Formula One artefacts and of course the championship trophies. Then, head on over to the Red Bull Racing Heritage Workshop to catch a glimpse of the engineers working on F1 cars. Refreshments will be on hand, and to&nbsp;<em>really</em>&nbsp;put their heart in overdrive they can nab a special memento of their day too.</p>

<p>It’s time to turn up the heat and visit Waddesdon Manor’s Chilli Fest in the Aviary Gardens where your £20 (£11 for 5+) ticket will give you a selection of artisan food and drink stalls, live music and family activities. Expect chilli eating competitions, bubble entertainment, sampling sauces, oils and pickles at The Taste Tent, and circus workshops. And to really wear the kids (<em>and</em>&nbsp;partners) out, bring the games to life in The Actual Reality Arcade for some interactive fun.</p>

<p>Now celebrating 21 years of annual fun (cheers to that!), BunkFest is Wallingford’s riverside knees-up that brings serious feel-good energy to the end of summer. Think live music, street food, heritage steam trains, and even boat performances drifting down the Thames. There are 70-plus music workshops (just turn up – no booking, no faff), plus folk dancing, ceilidhs, and cracking tribute acts like The Amy Winehouse Band and The Red Hot Chilli Pipers. Add in a beer tent, a campsite nearby, and totally free festival access, and you’ve got yourself a brilliant, joyful, bring-the-whole-village kind of weekend.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Grab your stetson and head for Hogshaw with the family this Saturday for a real life hoedown (as Beyoncé would say). There’s live folk and country music from 1pm, with a Taylor Swift tribute act later on to delight the Swifties among you, not to mention some very wholesome sounding apple pressing demos and tractor trailer rides. </p>



<p>A licensed bar and local food and produce stalls will keep your line-dancing energy up and there’s all the usual fun of the farm, including animal encounters and the last hurrah of the summer<a href="https://bucksoxon.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/day-trips/best-lidos-pools-inflatable-parks-buckinghamshire-oxfordshire/"> splash pad</a>.
