It&#8217;s not all striped blazers and cheering on the boats, you know. Imagine sipping Aperol Spritz in the sunshine, enjoying a gorgeous flame-cooked meal (not a charred banger in sight) then dancing the night away round a firepit&#8230; oh, and there might be a spot of rowing in the background. Yup, that sounds like the Muddy way to do Henley!



<a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Feast over Flame (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.facebook.com/feastevents/" target="_blank">Feast over Flame</a> launched its pop-up dining at the Henley Royal Regatta last year, and it was so fabulously popular that it&#8217;s back this year (29 June&nbsp;&#8211; 3 July). No wonder it was a hit &#8211; founders Neal and Sarah Dove have been running epic dining pop-ups in exceptional venues for years and crafted their trade at the likes of The Lanesborough, The Compleat Angler and Cliveden, no less! 



So, if you&#8217;re not already convinced, here&#8217;s six reasons why this is our pick for a day at Henley&#8230;

1/ The Menu! Freshly baked meadow herb bread, whipped wild garlic butter; pancetta wrapped Wye Valley asparagus; grilled fillet of beef and tiger prawn; griddled peach melba, vanilla cream and shortbread and a s&#8217;mores platter and luxe hot choc (veggie option available). Literally, drooling! We won&#8217;t ruin the surprise too much, but between 8-10pm there&#8217;s more flame-cooked sustenance to keep the hardcore going til long after sundown.

​2/ It&#8217;s an all dayer! The Feast over Flame ticket gives you access to the island from 11am-11pm (til 9pm on Sun 3 July). That&#8217;s 12 hours of serious good times with your family and friends &#8211; yup, it&#8217;s time to make up for two years of lost get-togethers.

3/ It&#8217;s cooked fresh! Forget platters of chicken supreme languishing under heat lamps a la mass catering of old&#8230; there&#8217;s a Big Green Egg BBQ at the end of each table on which your incredible lunch will be expertly flame-cooked to order.

4/ Booze is included (at least to get you started). Not all Henley tickets include booze but chez Feast over Flame, guests will settle in with a glass of champers and then have half a bottle of wine each over lunch. If that&#8217;s not enough, there&#8217;s always the bar for top-ups of local draught beer, wine, spirits and hand-crafted cocktails (because we don&#8217;t come to Henley to drink pre-mixed darrrling!). There&#8217;s also tea, coffee, still and sparkling available all day.

5/ You&#8217;re not stuck at your table all day. The Feast over Flame space is rather gorgeous &#8211; there&#8217;s Ibiza-style lounge seating, the gorgeous festoon lighting bedecked long dining tables plus multiple bars and a covered terrace so you can lounge, perch, peruse and twirl the light fantastic, whatever the weather.

6/ Entertainment! By the bucketload! Well, for starters there&#8217;s the hundreds of gorgeous guys and girls hurtling past as they flex well-honed muscles in fierce and fast-paced competition with one another, then there&#8217;s the live music and DJ to see you alll the way through to 11pm (yup, dust off the dancing shoes).
