<p>You’ve just caught your breath after the summer holidays and yet half-term’s looming. If you’re yet to plan what to do with the little monsters, there’s one Oxfordshire venue that has the entire week covered and a schedule to please even the fussiest of kids, with tea taken care of too. Did we mention it’s wheelchair and buggy-friendly with thoughtfully designed sensory play for all? Here’s why a trip to <a href="https://bucksoxon.muddystilettos.co.uk/little-black-book/directory/fairytale-farm-chipping-norton/">Fairytale Farm</a>, near Chipping Norton, is the half-term dream.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-1-it-s-had-a-glow-up-for-2025">1. It’s had a glow-up for 2025</h2>

<p>12 years in, Fairytale Farm has had more than a fresh lick of paint. The shiny new Storybook Castle now takes centre stage in the Huff and Puff play area and its turrets, ladders, battlements and slide offer the perfect stage for your small ones to play knights and dragons while you enjoy a flat white. Next, take them off to the new Wonderland zone to burn off steam at the Queen of Hearts crazy golf course or dig into the giant vegetable patch, and the Mad Hatter’s playground here is ideal for keeping under 5s occupied. Along the path of the Enchanted Walk meanwhile, the dancing fountains now feature a singing school of fish and a frog prince – kids can press the button and set the story in motion. Little ones love splashing about after all – ‘just add water’ is the ultimate tantrum fix IMHO.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Fairytale Farm’s <a href="https://www.fairytalefarm.co.uk/events/illuminated-evenings-at-fairytale-farm-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">illuminated evenings</a> are already a local must-do and they’re back for 2025 with a sparkly new façade to set the scene before you’ve even left the car park, plus colourful new light and water fountains to mesmerise the minis. Running from <strong>4 Oct – 16 Nov</strong>, expect almost the entire park to be magically lit, from toadstools to Dino Valley to Snow White’s Castle. There’s music, an ethereal tunnel of light for family selfies and a moonlit animal trail allowing you to see many of the farm’s residents tucking in for bed. It’s on every evening during half-term and day visitors can hang around to experience it all for free, or there’s reduced entry tickets from 3pm for evening guests. Arrive as close to 3pm as possible if bunny cuddles and pony stroking are on your agenda.&nbsp;</p>

<p>If you’re heading along to the light show, the <a href="https://fairytalefarm.digitickets.co.uk/event-tickets/27844?catID=27043&amp;" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Illuminations and Supper Deal </a>(£15.99 per adult, £14.99 for kids 10 and under) throws in a hot meal and drink for everyone from the onsite Beanstalk Café too so you don’t have to rustle up something when the gang has tipped over into hangry territory later. Grab yourself a bowl of homemade soup with a crusty roll and steaming hot choc and get settled in for a spangly eve.</p>

<p>This year’s <a href="https://www.fairytalefarm.co.uk/events/scarily-ever-after-fairy-tale-villains/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Halloween celebrations </a>are from <strong>25 Oct &#8211; 2nd Nov </strong>and there’s a Wizard of Oz theme with a twist. It’s headlined by a “bumbling” Wizard of Oz whose spells keep going awry (with comical results that will tickle the kiddos) and Westy, the Un-wicked Witch of the West who’ll help your little wizards and witches craft their own magical rhymes.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Kids will enjoy filling their spell book passports as they explore puzzle and riddle trails around the farm and they’ll each receive a free pumpkin from Munchkin’s pumpkin patch to either carve or paint in the Curious Crafts Marquee. It’s run by the very arty lot from <a href="https://thecreationstation.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Creation Station</a> so you can sit back and relax as they wrangle all that pumpkin gunge. Encourage some dress-up for a ‘trick-or-treat’ at the park entrance and there’s face-painting if the little ones fancy getting even more into character. Don’t forget that you can stay on for the evening illuminations for free for extra half-term bang for your buck.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-5-there-s-a-party-down-on-the-farm">5. There’s a party down on the farm</h2>
