<p>Henley&#8217;s River &amp; Rowing Museum (RRM) has always been one for surprises. It&#8217;s so much more than oars and lycra (though if that&#8217;s your bag, you can fill yer boots/boats). This autumn&#8217;s a case in point with contemporary art, space exploration and shopping among the eclectic offerings. Here&#8217;s some of the highlights we&#8217;ll be hot-footing it along to.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-cutting-edge-art">CUTTING EDGE ART</h2>

<p>Massive abstract board and canvas prints are currently adorning RRM&#8217;s gorgeous airy gallery and it makes for a stunning show. It&#8217;s the first solo exhibition from local abstract artist Sarah Le-Fevre, whose work in acrylic and mixed media is inspired by the landscapes of the Thames around Wallingford. The show is on until 23 Sept, so catch it while you can. It&#8217;s free with museum admission and you can always pop into the fab Rowing Room Café with its artisan coffee and top notch bakes. Talk about a dreamy morning with a pal.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-friday-night-is-bath-night">FRIDAY NIGHT IS BATH NIGHT</h2>

<p>If you&#8217;ve always wanted to try meditation or sound baths, then now&#8217;s the moment. Oxon yogi Jo Winterton Yoga is hosting a monthly meditation and gong sound bath session in the Thames Room at the RRM &#8211; it&#8217;s a bright and serene space that&#8217;s perfect for this kind of next-level relaxation. It&#8217;s on Friday evenings at 7pm &#8211; talk about rounding off your week the right way &#8211; and the next one is 27 Sept. It&#8217;s £35 for two hours of proper me-time.</p>

<p>Space isn&#8217;t somewhere you&#8217;d expect RRM to take you, but this summer&#8217;s opening, The Space Vault, is all about Oxford&#8217;s role in human space exploration. Kid &#8211; and big kid &#8211; klaxon! It&#8217;s a chance to see actual relics like objects brought back to Earth from the moon and outer space, or artefacts like the mission checklists from Apollo 13. So, plenty to ogle at and inspire. It&#8217;s on until next summer and entry is included in a museum ticket. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-shopper-s-delight">SHOPPER&#8217;S DELIGHT </h2>

<p>The Lovely Vintage &amp; Antiques Fair sets up stall(s) at RRM&#8217;s Thames Room on Sat 5 Oct, from 10-4pm and it&#8217;s always a cracking event for sourcing unusual gifts and quirky little finds to give a room a lift. Entry is £2.50 with under 12s free, and you can always combine it with am amble round the museum and a pitstop in the café. The museum&#8217;s own shop is a bit of a trove for gifts too, with local suppliers like The Henley Distillery, Honeys of Henley and Ace Henley playing cards, plus prints and cards from local artists and tons of gifts from indie brands. Take your pick from candles, toiletries, doggie gifts and bags from Conviktion, a charity working with a small team of skilled prisoners at Oxon&#8217;s HMP Huntercombe.</p>

<p>Looking for something fresh to entertain your toddler this autumn? Look no further than RRM&#8217;s weekly Tiddlers group. Led by the museum&#8217;s early years specialist, Maddy, the interactive session runs every Monday at 10.30am. It&#8217;s for 1-5 year-old pre-schoolers, and younger siblings are able to tag along too. Expect singing, stories and activities around the museum&#8217;s massive collection of goodies.
