<h2 class="wp-block-heading">1. You don&#8217;t have to be a chilli fiend to attend</h2>



<p>Let&#8217;s clear this up from the get-go &#8211; yes, there will be a lot of chilli-related content but you don&#8217;t have to be in possession of an iron stomach to enjoy all that Chilli Fest at Waddesdon Manor, in Buckinghamshire, has to offer. Everyone is welcome, whether your interest in the humble chilli is mild or fire-breathing hot. In fact, it&#8217;s surprisingly family friendly. </p>

<p>Recognise this hot sauce? It&#8217;s hot sauce legend Levi Roots. You may know him from his entrepreneurial spice, but the celeb chef is also a musician and will be DJing from 6pm on the Saturday. For the first time, Chilli Fest will keep the festival fun going until dusk – and Levi&#8217;s getting the party started with his selection of reggae, ska, dancehall, Afrobeats.</p>

<p>Around 70 local artisan producers and some of the nation’s best loved independent traders will be pitching up for the festival. Bring your appetite as there&#8217;ll be a lot of delicious food and drink available &#8211; I&#8217;ve already got my eye on some proper tacos from the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/tacolabuk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Taco Lab</a>, a brownie from <a href="https://browniesrock.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brownie Rocks</a> and a margarita &#8211; maybe two, OK three &#8211; from <a href="https://papiscocktails.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Papi&#8217;s Cocktails</a>. As well as beautiful homeware, gifts and plenty of condiments, chutneys and sauces to try before you buy, she says while stockpiling <a href="https://haynesgourmet.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Haynes Gourmet</a> Candied Jalapeño Marmalade.  </p>

<p>With stunning French Renaissance château Waddesdon as the backdrop and 500 acres of landscaped grounds, the chillies aren&#8217;t the only thing bringing the fire to Chilli Fest. Though there&#8217;ll be plenty to keep you occupied during the festival, the IG-fodder gardens, outdoor sculptures (don&#8217;t miss the incredible Wedding Cake) and stunning views are well worth the visit alone. If your nosiness gets the better of you, <a href="https://waddesdonbasket.seetickets.com/tour/waddesdon-grounds/default/2" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">visit the manor</a> house, it&#8217;s jaw-droppingly gorgeous. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-5-witness-the-chilli-eating-competition">5. Witness the Chilli Eating Competition</h2>

<p>There&#8217;s something about seeing a load of unwitting contestants chomp their way through the world&#8217;s spiciest chillies that you just can&#8217;t look away from. Stupidity or a feat of human endurance? You be the judge, as there&#8217;s a Chilli Eating Competition taking place on both Saturday and Sunday courtesy of Scoville connoisseurs and experts <a href="https://www.cliftonchilliclub.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>Clifton Chilli Club</strong></a>, who&#8217;ll be monitoring the contest. Laugh in the face of scotch bonnets and habaneros? Go ahead and enter the competition yourself – we&#8217;re with you (via the sidelines) all the way. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-6-doing-it-for-the-kids">6. Doing it for the kids</h2>

<p>While margaritas and tacos will keep you entertained, it&#8217;s not exactly PG for the kids. But they&#8217;ve definitely not been forgotten. The Bubble Wizard will be bringing his is vat of Fairy Liquid to create bubbles as small as an ant and as large as an elephant. Mind blown. Plus Hula Hooper Annie Mack will be spinning out, The Junkyard Orchestra will perform and there&#8217;s face painting and a vintage carousel – a lot of it included in the price of your ticket. If you know you&#8217;ll struggle to drag them away,&nbsp;<strong>Sat 31 Aug</strong>&nbsp;is late night opening, with the festival running for an additional two hours until 7pm.</p>

<p>If you can tear yourself away from the food, there&#8217;s a brilliant line-up of musicians on the bill providing the soundtrack to the weekend. Among them, bonkers Mariachi band <a href="https://www.beatoburrito.com">Beatto Burrito</a>, Oxfordshire rockers <a href="https://www.tbwnn.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Band With No Name</a> and, no strangers to Mr Motivator-inspired lycra, the infectious <a href="https://www.tuba-libres.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tuba Libres</a>, who will be performing some bangers with brass.</p>
