Bucks and Oxon is awash with waterways – and there is no better place to be when the weather is fine. Fancy gliding your way across those glassy waters in style? Or maybe it’s something you’ve always wanted to tick off the to-do list. Then it’s time to up your SUP game (that’s paddleboarding to you and me!) 

Introducing Moi’s SUP School in Witney, led by founder and Advanced Coach Moi and a team of female instructors. Whether you’re a complete beginner or already a paddler and would like to join some like-minded souls, this SUP school 20 mins outside Oxford is the one. All that’s required is that you’re happy kneeling, can confidently swim and happy to be in the water as sometimes – the unexpected does happen! 

Moi offers a range of lesson options from private to small groups for all abilities, with everything conducted at a pace that’s right for you. Alongside all the physical and fresh air benefits, there’s also the social side. Every fortnight there’s a Wednesday evening ‘Hump Day Paddle’, the perfect destress; Thursday mornings are the ‘Silver SUP’ gentle paddles for the over 50s and Friday mornings are girls-only ‘Healing Hour’ paddles. Moi also runs guided monthly Sunset ‘SUP in the City’ paddles and Full Moon paddles by the light of glow sticks (talk about dreamy!) 

During the summer months, the Sunday morning SUPYoga, held at a stunning lake locale just outside Witney is one to try.  It’s also a fun girls get together, Moi’s has got it down pat, tailoring the package to your needs – and its HQ is right next to The Rose Revived pub for a post paddle reviver.

All of the lessons and experiences are for 18+ only so this isn’t one for the kids, but that makes it all the more relaxing if you want to escape the clamour of family life for a couple of hours of me-time. All lessons take place at Moi’s riverside spot at Newbridge nr Witney, but there are tours and experiences at other locations on the River Thames, the Cherwell and the Oxford Canal. Also, keep an eye on Moi’s social for bank holiday events and more chances to hit the water when the mood takes you. Everything is provided, all the equipment, wet suits and buoyancy aids so you can just coast up.
