<p>Literally an old shed on a working farm, this is a dream for littlies thanks to the entertainment from the various sheep, donkeys, chickens and Wanda the wondering goat, though it&#8217;s good for bigger kids too who&#8217;ll enjoy the walks (possibly) or more likely, having a crack at the &#8216;Disc Golf&#8217; course. A perfect multi-generational activity, you have to throw a frisbee into the various baskets positioned around a woodland course. Then of course there&#8217;s the local seasonal food, simply done but tasty, including the ever-popular Shed Burger, potted salmon or halloumi fries plus a kids menu at £6.95 for your classic sausage and chips/tomato pasta type dish.</p>

<p>This gorgeous, breezy space attached to the lovely Story Museum in the centre of town is a real child-friendly box ticker, not just because of the fabulous museum around it, but for its highchairs, baby changing facilities, buggy parking, books and toys to loan, storytelling sessions and kids menu. There&#8217;s the £2.75 hummus and crudities for your nibbler up to a £6.75 goodie bag of pompom crisps, babybel, fruit, raisins, roll etc &#8211; everything you&#8217;d have packed had you not been juggling the change bag/buggy/child/last minute nappy changes while leaving the house this morning.</p>

<p>This Tom Kerridge gastropub has an epic deal going throughout 2023 &#8211; under 12s eat free Monday to Thursday, 3-5pm. Ok, so you&#8217;ve got to eat a little earlier, but what&#8217;s not to love? They chow down on probably the finest chicken goujons they&#8217;ve ever eaten (or hot dog topped with fried onions or mini cheese burger), plus fries, coleslaw, fruit or a soft drink, while you sample the siracha chicken wings/buttermilk fried chicken Caesar burger/BBQ brisket burger. An absolute winner, and there&#8217;s even a vegan option &#8211; Korean BBQ king oyster mushroom burger &#8211; so everyone&#8217;s happy. </p>

<p>The Soho House-designed interiors of this retro American style motel-diner in Buckland near Faringdon is mooted as a roadside stopover but has become something of a destination in itself. With all-day breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, cocktails and mocktails, as well as free parking, EV charging and a kids’ menu for £7 (plant burger/chicken tenders/sweetcorn fritters with fries, house beans or broccoli and milk, juice or soda) it beats the usual A road offering. All the while you can start with the frickles (fried pickles and garlic mayo) and then the superfood blackbean and avo bowl, or ask for the &#8216;secret menu&#8217; with a wink to the waiter and throw caution to the wind. </p>

<p>While we&#8217;re on the subject of teen-pleasers, how about this beauty &#8211; it&#8217;s an Oxford legend, and fabled among students who need to sate their burger cravings right up to 10pm on the Cowley Road. Expect patties piled high with pulled pork, fried onions and hash brown among the additions, and decent vegan and veggie options too like pulled jack fruit and vegan nachos. Throw in dirty fries and a killer milkshake and they might even say thank you. You&#8217;re welcome.</p>

<p>This cute café between Oxford and Witney is strictly a breakfast and brunch joint &#8211; it&#8217;s all about the fresh baked pastries, cakes, pizza and sourdough melts plus really good coffee (and hot choc and ice cream of course). But what makes it an absolute winner is that pair it with Jessie&#8217;s Art Shed next door and you&#8217;ve got a whole day out bagged. The studio offers workshops from toddler age right through to adults or you can book a bespoke experience for the whole gang trying your hand at painting, mosaic, jewellery making and there&#8217;s even workshops for Taylor Swift and Harry styles wannabees.</p>

<p>This family-friendly pub is right on the banks of the River Cherwell in Oxford &#8211; you can even arrive by punt (rent one from <a href="https://cherwellpunting.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cherwell Boathouse</a> just up the river). It also serves food all day to accommodate early kids suppers unlike many locals, so you can have them back for bed time and get your feet up with a glass of something restorative. The kids menu is from £6.95 and a cut above &#8211; grilled Castlemead Farm chicken thigh with fries is one dish, meanwhile the adults can share tapas dishes like beetroot falafel and salt and pepper calamari. Eat out in the spacious garden alongside the river or inside for cosy pub vibes (it&#8217;s also dog friendly).</p>

<p>For kids with more adventurous tastes, this Indian restaurant is a rare beast &#8211; it serves dishes in small portions (a mini korma is £8) plus the usual fish and chips/goujons for those siblings who aren&#8217;t willing to give curry a go. Dipalee also serves food from 5pm for early suppers and has a generous vegan and veggie offering. It&#8217;s bright and airy and is a real community space, popular with local families.</p>

<p>Upstairs at Gloria&#8217;s is a fabulously flamboyant affair &#8211; the décor that is. The food is simply cooked and superb &#8211; pizzas and pastas served by real life Italians (a kids pasta portion is £5.95) and a chef who occasionally comes out to sing on a Saturday. It’s Italian, so naturally, it&#8217;s super kid friendly and the desserts are outta this world &#8211; the tiramisu is a personal fave and the kids will go wild for the gelato.</p>

<p>When RH England waved its magic wand over this gorgeous stately pile with its hedonistic history, it went full throttle and opened not one but five new restaurants catering for every kind of occasion and diner. The best for kids is the Loggia, an open-air restaurant and wine bar with a menu of wood-fired pizzas, charcuterie boards and sharing plates.&nbsp;The pizzas really are a thing of perfection with the Napoli style offering of both margherita and marinara (no cheese but with garlic and oregano) from £15 meanwhile you can sample the prosciutto, parmigiano and Prosecco. Perfetto!</p>

<p>This café is a bit of a hidden gem and is all about sourcing the freshest ingredients from local farms and creating colourful, enticing dishes with it – like Tuscan vegetable stew, or strawberries and cream French toast. It’s the passion project of owner chef Lucie Ellis, who catered all over the world before opening her own venture. Find a comfy corner inside or cuddle up in the cute dining sheds with fur-covered picnic benches. There&#8217;s a kids menu from £5 a plate and both littlies and dogs are welcome (pooches in the heated outdoor sheds).</p>

<p>This gastropub on the edge of Oxford is a favourite of mine for lunch on a sunny day (here&#8217;s hoping). The gorgeous Victorian red brick exterior and acres of wooded grounds give it a kind of magical air and kids will love heading down to the little stream at the end of the garden. The tables on the deck have a fab view but if the weather&#8217;s not playing ball get a table in the bright conservatory. Kids can request a small portion of any dish on the menu or there&#8217;s a reasonably priced kids menu including some options that go beyond the usual goujon/pasta offering. </p>
