<p>2025’s matcha obsession shows no sign of slowdown – from manicures to interiors, you can’t move for matcha, and we’re glugging it by the gallon. Retail sales of matcha in the UK increased by 91% in the first quarter of 2025 according to <a href="https://www.thegrocer.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Grocer </a>and ‘MatchaTok’ is abuzz with creamy Japanese green tea based creations. Gen Z icon Sabrina Carpenter apparently loves herself a <a href="https://www.blankstreet.com/en-GB" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Blank Street </a>matcha (she’s clearly taking a break from espresso) but you don’t need to head into the big city to get a taste of the green stuff – the following cafés serve up Insta-worthy matcha lattes right on your doorstep.</p>

The matcha used by baristas is ceremonial grade, aka, the crème de la crème, so the result is &#8216;chef’s kiss&#8217;. If you regularly WFH and have hankerings for both company and artisan hot drinks, £12.50 gets all the steaming bevvies you fancy from 8am-7pm alongside a signature Front Room sourdough toastie (I can personally vouch that they’re to die for), a cushy workspace and free wifi. Both venues cater for the matcha maniacs among you, with hot and iced options whisked up with matcha powder hailing from Kyoto. Tuck into a distinctly less exotic but oh so delicious cheese and chutney toastie on the side, made with a herby bloomer baked at <a href="https://www.thecottagebakery.uk/about" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Cottage Bakery </a>in nearby Ampthill.
