Everyone loves my groovy new '60s-style garden chairs. Are they Heal's or Philippe Starck? Are they heck! But can you guess where I found 'em?
Well, these guys are garnering a lot of love on my Insta – so much so I thought I’d tell you a bit more about them. These orange retro wicker chairs currently jazzing up my jardin also come in black, white, turquoise or yellow, and they’re so bright’n’breezy that every visitor makes a beeline for them. They wouldn’t look out of place in a Hockney Californian swimming pool painting, I reckon. Surprisingly, they’re really comfortable to loll (and LOL) in. Even more surprisingly, they’re a total steal at just £38 from Homebase. Yup, £38. Although obvs I’m telling everyone they’re The Conran Shop.
On a bit of a roll, I’ve sniffed out some other high street and supermarket steals for cheap but chic outdoor living. After all, it looks like we’ll be continuing to spend the summer al fresco, doesn’t it? *Cue massive thunderstorm*.
In my parallel fantasy life, I laze in a hammock all day, reading racy 19th century French novellas and enjoying the occasional perfectly mixed Aperol Spritz, brought to me on a silver tray by my manservant. A girl’s gotta dream, right? This one is just £83 from La Redoute, with a whopping extra 40 percent off if you use the promo code on the site.
OK, this is maybe more hipster kitsch than chic but every paddling pool needs a unicorn float this summer (even if it takes up the entire paddling pool). Remember the cute pic of the England World Cup squad messing about on these? Now’s your chance to follow suit. This winsome floaty creature is just £19.99 from Aldi.
Never mind all those chunky wooden benches that need four grown men to shift them an inch. This Odina folding wooden bench with stylish metal legs from Rosara is set to become a garden modern classic. Easily stored, or moved around different vantage points in your garden, it costs £395 (the matching chairs are £195 each). I’ll be taking my morning cuppa reclining from here from now on and will pretend I have this view!
The Habitat summer sale is well worth a gander. Planters are pretty boring normally but I love these unusual faceted fibreglass pots, in royal blue or white. They’re the kind of thing Picasso might’ve had in his garden, doncha think? They’re £75 for two in the sale, down from £150.
